1-0 Colorado after 1. Once again the line of Wooj-Sakic-Bruno comes through big. Wooj set it up once again creating room by swooping across high in the zone and dishing it off perfectly to the open man, who happened to be Sakic...Super Joe fires it, Backstrom makes the save, rebound goes straight to a perfectly positioned Brunette who fires it in a wide open net.

Not all was good, in fact very little was. Avs could barely sustain any pressure, sloppy with the puck and not aggressive enough in the corners and in the slot. Quite possibly the worst period of hockey I've ever seen Forsberg play. Made bad decisions with the puck (don't dish to fucking FOOTE when you've got a ton of better scoring options surrounding you...Rod Langway had a better slapshot) and singlehandedly killed roughly 4 full minutes of Avs power play time by coughing it up at least four different times by my count. Wylde were definitely the better team in that period...

Start of the 2nd...Minny on the power play.

End of 2, still 1-0 Avs...Minny once again the better team and generating far more chances. Theo was spectacular.

I gotta give credit at least a little to the Avs' D and PK units. They're playing far better now than they did during the regular season. Nonetheless...Avs need to be more aggressive...and Forsberg needs to pull his head out of his ass. Mad

Shorthanded goal by Minny.

You're not going to win a game playing crap-ass hockey like that, gentlemen.

G'night.

I am watching this game live from the CBC website with earphones on because the Little Woman is sleeping.

This has been a hell of an overtime, exciting!

Minny seems to be carrying the play so far, but the Avs have got their chances.

Well...E.L. is having some cream in his coffee right now. Pee-Emm-Bee wins it.

Theo made some unbelievable saves to keep the Avs in it, unfortunately the Avs just couldn't really get a decent shot on Backstrom the entire game. The better team certainly won tonight. I'll give the Avs a little credit, they were solid defensively to a point, but for the most part let the Wylde run...well...wild all over the offensive zone. And WAAAAAAY too many fuckin' turnovers, especially at the blueline. Inexcusable.

One thing for sure, Paul Stastny has GOT to get it done. He's trying, but he's simply not scoring. Neither is Gaborik (though he had a GREAT game) but the Avs can afford for him not to come through big in the first round. Avs can't afford for Stastny to be scoreless much longer.

Forsberg woke up a little after being put on Sakic's line but still turned in a horrendous effort. He was a liability practically all night.

Well...same time, same thread tomorrow!

Uh...wow.

Game 2, 5-0 after two periods, all Avs.

That infamous Lemaire discipline has completely fallen apart. The game is starting to get very chippy, the refs are getting close to losing control...hopefully Simon won't do anything stupid.

One of the best games I've seen

Leopold in for the ineffective Finger...so far so good, both him and Ruslan Salei look great on the 2nd unit power play. Leo makes a great play to Arnie who passes to Salei, who rockets one past Backstrom to make it 4-0. Hejduk with a power play goal later to make it 5.

Stastny's trying like hell but it's just not going in.

Highlight of the game so far...in a big scrap where all players on the ice converged right in front of the Wylde bench, Veilleux, Belanger, Liles, and McLeod all go to the box. Veilleux starts making faces and mocking McLeod's missing front teeth, McLeod repsonds by pointing at the butt end of his stick and then back at Veilleux, the crowd seeing all this on the jumbotron cheer in approval. Salei scores on the ensuing power play, so the Avs get the last laugh. Laughing

Wow, DIRTY fucking hit from behind down low on Stastny by Stephane Veilleux. What an asshat. Evil or Very Mad Even left his feet in doing it.

Score on the power play guys...I hope Cody McLeod caves your face in you stupid fuck.

Okay, give the refs credit, they kept this game on a tight leash.

Avs win 5-1, the Avs certainly surprised me by looking like the less tired team. Best game by a mile from Ruslan Salei since he donned the Burgundy-et-bleu at both ends of the ice. Leopold looked awesome as hell at least offensively...

Wylde looked erratic and undisciplined all night, very uncharacteristic.

Anyway, Avs tie the series going into Saturday in Minny. Hopefully there won't be any suspensions (well fine by me if Veilleux sits) after all the scraps at game's end.
