Sabres purchase junior squad

The Sabres and Sabres Alumni Association are taking complete control of the Jr. Sabres organization. The Jr. Sabres are the only U.S.-based team to play in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League, a league that's heavily scouted by Division I U.S. colleges as well as some pro teams.
Under the new ownership, former Sabres defenseman and Alumni Association President Larry Playfair has been named team president. Grant Ledyard, another former Sabre, will remain as coach and also become general manager. Ledyard coached the team last season, his first with the Jr. Sabres, to a 15-30-4 record, an 11-point improvement from the 2006-2007 year. |

In terms of Tier 2 Junior A, they can't hold a candle to the Cowichan Valley Capitals, of which I have been a die hard supporter since May 12, 2008.*
