On a side note, when asked about Gagner's junior eligibility, MacT said that "we aren't getting rid of one of our most producitve players". _________________ It's backwards time. |

Sure wish I could make a crazy amount of dough playing hockey in the city that is my second choice.
I don't dislike Smyth in anyway I just have zero pity for him. |

I guess that's what I'm getting at in the thread I started in the Colorado forum.
Though I do dislike him. _________________

4-2 final, an empty-netter seals the deal.
Ironically, our Oiler-killer nowadays is none other than Tyler Arnason. He comes up big yet again with a goal and an assist, also a nifty pass up-ice during the Avs' first power play that leads to a Svatos breakaway. Sure wish he ALWAYS played like that.
Jaroslav Hlinka with his first NHL goal. Yay.
As expected, the ovation for Smyth was huge, and he got all choked up. Played an effective game even though he was held off the scoreboard.
Someone remind me again why the Avs didn't sign Tom Gilbert...?
The real concern for me with the Avs is the play of J-M Liles. He made at least one horrid turnover at the point during the power play, the kid is simply not playing with any sort of confidence. Q needs to sit him down and straighten him out. Clark wasn't bad tonight like he has been in previous games...I just hope Q keeps his minutes limited. Like Breezy, overplaying him leads to some egregious errors by him.
Leopold just looks terrible out there, he's really scared he's going to get hurt again. If that's the case, keep his ass in the press box.
Anyway, beat the Oil, good. FINALLY win on the road.
PK was effective, but against the league's worst power play (and I believe it was still sucking even before Pitkanen and Souray went down) that isn't saying much. |

They started booing him come the 3rd period, though. Didn't take long.

Oh shit is that who we gave up for him...? I thought it was just a draft pick. Stupid trade in a year for the Avs that had a series of them. Wow.
Yes like Jagr in Pittsburgh, the tribute allowed fans to say goodbye. Now Smyth will be public enemy No. 1 in Edmonton, and I hope he makes a point of making his former team pay and the fans hate him that much more. It's time the Alberta teams and Colorado became a real rivalry. |
