There's alot of canucks whom live in Phoenix and we have alot of coyotes in Vancouver. Go figure.

but big news for Vanocuver , well not earth shattering but just interesting news, Jason Jaffray sent back down and Mike Brown is getting back into the line up tonight.

Not official but word is Beech will indeed partner up with his '99 draft buddy Pyatt and Naslund on the second line.

Not official but Linden could be riding the pine tonight.

Sanford is in tonight , I thought for sure he was playing sunday vs St.Louis. Bryz was pulled last night for Phoenix so he might be in tonight.

Is Beech playing tonight? And is he any good in your book CL?

Hopefully the Nucks show up tonight,God knows they didn't use any energy last night Rolling Eyes ,I hope we win 7-6 as I have Doan Reinprecht and Jovo on my fantasy team along with Raymond and Edler of the Nucks

Laughing The Tuzer debating team. Laughing

Only partially wrong. Twisted Evil

We made a good effort to come back and succeeded...to a point.

We came up short but it was a very entertaining game none the less.
Sanford didn't play badly but we missed Luongo's sheer size in the net.

Unfortunate that Cowan got four minutes and Burrows got unlucky with the clearing attempt on a bouncing puck.
It happens.
A full two minutes 5-on-3 without Burrows is a dream come true for the opposition.
But neither one was a lazy penalty and I can't fault the effort the boys showed tonight. It was a fun game to watch.

The shorthanded Burrows/Kesler goal was a beauty.

Jovo played great.....wrong colour uniform for my taste...but it was good to watch him being Jovo again.

Pyatt is beginning to show his full potential.
WOW !
He won't stay underappreciated very long if he keeps this up.

All in all, a good game.
We got unlucky and they capitalized.

I missed last night's game, but the reports from the shark tank, added to our play the last couple of weeks, had me beginning to worry about a prolonged slump.

I was happy that I didn't see any sign of that tonight, despite the loss.

Just caught the replay of the 3rd, good run at home for the Nucks sorry to see/hear it come to an end. Sounded like Pyatt was with the the twins for the 3rd when did that happen? Also heard some remark about them wanting to send Tommy off with a win? What's up with that?

This, I'm afraid, is the middle of their slump. They were outplayed for 57 minutes but won 3-0 against NY; outplayed the Isles completely, but needed the SO to beat them; and outplayed in consecutive games against the Sharks and now the Coyotes. They come out of these last four games 2-2, but could have very easily been 0-3-1. The good news is that they are still getting some points even when they're obviously not playing well. The bad news are that the habits that they've been known for are starting to slip: they consistently get beaten to loose pucks; they aren't moving their feet; they're far too passive in their own zone; other teams are figuring out how to break up their breakouts; and they've been guilty of allowing their opporients to come at them for at least one period in each game. Going into the game, they had a one point lead plus two games in hand over the Flames, and two or three points on the Wild; they've given those teams a chance to reel Vancouver in. Edmonton won last night, too, right?

Their PP scored on the first chance, but looked terrible thereafter. Their PK allowed two goals or something and unlike Whistler, I thought Cowan's penalty was absolutely horrible... There was no need to clothesline Jovo on that play; that effectively took what little momentum they had and gave it to PHX; then Burrows' unfortunate clear - a two-minute 5 on 3 when the score is 1-1? Just asking for trouble. That was the game right there.

Terrific game for Pyatt, nonetheless; I love how he's starting to use his body and learning to complement the Sedins - as much as I love Naslund, he doesn't go to the net nearly as effectively as Pyatt does. Terrific goal from Kesler, too - the bottom line for me is if this team scores three goals, they should win. Unfortunately, a really poor decision by Cowan and the game is over (his ass was stapled to the bench in the last period, along with McIver), and some shaky goaltending by Sanford and poor coverage on the first PHX goal (he didn't protect the short side well at all, IMO), and it was over. This team, the way it is playing, doesn't create too many offensive chances, and those they do have, they have to bury.

They way they are playing right now, this team doesn't deserve to be in third place in the NW, nevermind first. Granted, they've had some injury trouble, but which team doesn't? But looking at last night's lineup, they had Weaver, Edler, Raymond, Beech, and McIver out there. That's a Moose-level unit in 25% of the team; fully half the d. Cooke, Naslund, and Salo are doing nothing offensively, Isbister, Linden and Krajicek were benched, and Beech did ok but his best play was getting up off the ice when someone nearly took his head off. Keep your head up, big guy. He made Isbister look good.

I should really put this in the rant thread, but I'm bitter to cut and paste. I don't know what magic AV has left, but he needs to give this team more than one kick in the tuckus or this is going to be a very, very long month, reminiscent of piss-poor Januaries of the past.

This deserves a

[/rant]

I was quite disappointed in last nights game.

However, I'm sure it's just a temporary slump.

I may have to defer to those who also watched the San Jose game. Embarassed

I missed it so, after the Rangers debacle, I've seen two in a row where the boys played with passion.

I guess my main point was that the boys did play with passion last night and, were it not for the Cowan/Burrows 5-on-3 penalties, we probably would have won.

If they can continue to bring that intensity, and Luongo can stay on top of his game, (how did he do in San Jose btw?), then I still believe they can be contenders and move on, avoiding a real slump.

I really liked the flashes of offensive intensity they showed last night.
It bodes well for a team that is otherwise well balanced and defensively solid.

You're right though Linguist....Cowan got owned by Jovo on that.

I didn't think it was a clothes-line....Cowan grabbed him from behind by the shoulder pads and hauled him down...but, I agree it was dumb....especially to keep after Jovo when he didn't want to co-operate.
Odd to see two holding penalties assessed on the same play.
I was shocked to see the 5-on-3 continue after the first goal.

I was wondering if Cowan would get any more ice time when he got out of the box and was surprised to see him take the next shift.
I didn't realize that it was to be his last shift of the game.

A 5-on-3 is tough for small goalies. They can't come out to cut the angle, leaving a lot of net for the shooters.

Blue Sunday will be a statement game (is there any other kind?).

In the meantime, tonight's game between Detroit & Ottawa should be interesting. The Sens are having a great season but Detroit is unbelievable.
It's the first time, in a long time, that they're actually earning the president's trophy instead of just taking advantage of a weak central division.

Friday night game, so I saw nothing of it, but: Krajicek was benched?! Or you just mean he didn't play a lot?

No , Krajicek has/had the flu , he wasnt suppose to play on thursday but he attempted and looked horrible , so he sat out completely on friday. Quarantine the guy. I heard Carolina has the team flu right now , half their team can barely play.

seeing that Beech has played for PGh and Wash mostly , I have seen Beech as much as Gary BEttman has seen hockey in general , isnt much. I have no clue what to expect from him , I saw him in an interview , he looks like and sounds like Steve Yzerman but thats as far as that comparison goes! lol

On paper I liked him before caz he was a bc boy with size and a top 10 pick.. but based on nothing more than that.

I've seen alot of guys have great debuts and still turn their Canuck careers into nothing (Dave Gagner , Beranek , Jimmy Carson , Mike Fountain ,...etc), so maybe a mediocre start is a blessing...

Im really rooting for this guy to become a late bloomer with us...

Pyatt looked terrific against Phoenix, as did Kesler.

I have to admit that Pyatt is starting to come on very strong of late,It's about time we had someone drive to the crease consistently. If he continues to play this way,Than I can see him getting 25-35 goals a year.
