Oh, it's time. This thread is mainly for Andrei, but Sergei's no slouch either. Since Sergei's callup, Andrei has played at a point per game pace as the LW on Montreal's top line with Tomas Plekanec and Alex Kovalev, who have been together for 3 months now. And this current hot streak he's on is not simply the result of talented linemates. Andrei is initiating the play, making great passes, making his own space in the offensive zone, and getting off his quick wrist shot which rivals Kovalev's for the best on the team.

Andrei is potentially the homegrown offensive star we've been craving for 20 years. It's not a stretch to imagine him having an impact on this team not unlike what Mats Naslund did. His talent has kind of been like an iceberg... he's been hiding it mainly away from view as he gets comfortable. Well, now he's starting to show bits of it all.

Sergei, meanwhile, has helped revitalize captain Koivu's season in a supporting role, and is making every offensively talented player in Montreal's job easier by giving us the ability to ice 3 lines that can score. He's much more polished than Andrei was at 20, as Andrei was a raw project who was struggling to produce at the AHL level. Sergei has dominated the OHL the past 2 seasons and was at a point per game pace in his rookie AHL campaign before the callup. He simply got the instincts before his brother did.

Of course, I post this the after a game in which the brothers were paired on the ice in OT when one of my WHEAT boys potted the GWG, but the brothers almost connected for a goal just before that.

You know how awesome it is to finally have a player who makes these highlight reel plays in Montreal?

Last night vs. Atlanta

Earlier this month vs. Washington

Andrei realising just how fat Hal Gill's ass is

There was a play last year between Kostitsyn and maybe Higgins or Plekanec where Kostitsyn made a turning behind the back pass right to the goal scorer which was just unreal. But I can't find it. Mad

And, for some Sergei love, here's a hit he made in the OHL on everyone's favourite player. Twisted Evil

Good stuff, thanks Sask.

His release on the Hal Gill shot was insane. There's another thing some of the best snipers do(I'll plug Datsyuk and Fedorov here): set the defenseman up as a screen and blow a wrist shot by the goalie.

Quote:
Kostitsyn heads for stardom

If you've been present at the Bell Centre when Canadiens players who won't be receiving their ACTRA cards any time soon announce the starting lineups in two languages (well, sort of) you might have noticed these reactions from fans: Alex Kovalev gets the loudest ovation when his name is mentioned. Andrei Kostitsyn is
No. 2 - but only by a slight margin. He's only a couple of cheers away of stripping Kovalev of his title. Give Kostitsyn a few more pregame introductions and, alongside it, Kovalev's will sound like a whisper. Smart people, these fans. They know that all Kostitsyn needs is a little more experience and he'll be the team's biggest star. Maybe as soon as next season. He scores highlight-reel goals. He makes highlight reel plays. He's becoming more and more of a leader from game to game. How do you say numero uno in Russian?
