That Nash goal was sick. Fuckin' brilliant.

Ridiculous. To win it in the final minute as well. Unreal.

That's sick... I guess this is what we can expect from the NewNHL; more defensemen fishing for the puck instead of flattening forwards - no way in hell should a forward go 1 on 2 and beat both defencemen and the goalie like that... That was definitely Mario- and Jagr-esque; Datsyuk does that too, from what I've seen.

Yup, Datsyuk definitely toe-drags with the best of them.

That wasn't anything to do with the NewNHL really, except that they can't grab on and bearhug the guy. The best players have always mesmerized defenders with what Don Cherry calls "Junior B moves". Play the man, not the puck. Basic elementary hockey that the greatest players have always gotten defenders to forget.

It looked like Morris tried to crosscheck Nash but he slipped by him. Reminded me of the 80's i.e the D didn't just grab the guy.

I'd way rather see plays like that then some old fat goon d-man like Hatcher trying to bear hug the forward every time....

Indeed. There's absolutely no reason for the defenceman to be watching the puck instead of focusing on the crest on the forward's jersey and putting a hit on him... Both defencemen ignored that cardinal rule (were they both defencemen or was one of them a forward?). The NewNHL comment had more to do with the reluctance of defencemen to put a hit on a guy, but I guess that has more to do with some defencemen equating that to hauling down the forward in that situation.

It's important to realize that neither d-man really was properly set for the play. They turned to skate backwards and Nash was already right there... there was little seperation, so panic set in a bit.

And Morris has been a rock defensively this season also.

He did his best, but sometimes a player is just too good.
