It's been a long while since public opinion has been pro-player, but I think Paul Kelly and his institution of logic could sway many people to favour the players.

This guy actually wants healthy teams, and for the game to grow, whereas Bettman has to hear the complaints of have-not owners in <insert city> who are freaking out because revenue is rising for everyone but them.

The last thing Bettman wants is for another successful Canadian franchise because it won't help them net a US TV deal and it will cause revenues to rise.

Paul Kelly's come in here, and instead of picking fights with everyone and complaining about how the players got a raw deal in the last CBA, he's come in looking for solutions to make the game better, which is the right way to going about getting his players more money.
