My god I just watched the 'opening ceremony'. So far the score is as follows:

Humiliation 1 NHL 0

And what was with all of Stinky's ssiblings out there for the intermission shows? Who was that singer? I don't ever want to hear how bad country sucks ever again - that shit was brutal...

Nice to hear Timmy say he tightend up on Nash's goal Mad

I tried....honest, I tried.

I missed the first but watched most of the second period...

I just couldn't force myself back to watch the third.

There might have been some entertaining shifts if both Sedin twins were there but, even then, the defence needs to care before the cycle is impressive.

Why would any goalie or defenceman want to play in the all-star game?
A couple of pylons and a shooter-tutor would get the same job done.

I guess the game is appreciated by people who tune in to watch celebrity golf tournaments where anything within 20 feet is a gimme.

They may all be hockey celebrities but it sure isn't hockey.

I guess I should have watched the skills competition instead.

That's too bad whistler,The 3rd was the only period of all star hockey I've ever seen that resembled a normal hockey game,It actually looked like both teams were trying to win in the third Laughing

That did suck. What was with that? Granted, had it been in Ottawa we would've had to listen to Anne Murray or something oh so fucking Canadian, like...like fucking bagpipes or something.

I couldn't watch it all.

Blah.

I expect Stinky, as a woman of colour, to be offended by your remark.

At any rate, yeah, the third was pretty good. And as for shooter tutors, the goalies made some damn fine stops, so dunno what that comment is about. Reaching back with the paddle = Timmy being Timmy...

Why do they wear equipment? It's like walking around town with a condom on. Sure you might get lucky...

Yes, even in the second period the goalies did make some great stops...
...but it was an excercise in futility.
How can goalies challenge the shooter when there are two other skaters parked unopposed, at the back door?
They can't play the position properly, they can only stay deep in the crease and hope to get a piece of the puck.

Maybe Bettman thinks an 8-7 score is good hockey, but watching quality goalies get hung out to dry because defence is frowned upon makes a travesty of the game.

Why don't they have an all-star baseball game using T-ball rules instead of pitchers, or a basketball all-star match where the basket is six feet across?

I just find it odd watching elite hockey players showcase their ability to play TimBit hockey at a high level.

Unless, of course, that was the point of the excercise.

But don't mind me.
I'm probably just grumpy because they didn't invite both Sedin twins.
It's like inviting Sidney Crosby, but making him play with dull skates.

Hmmmm....I really need to lighten up. Laughing
I have no idea why I find the all-star game so offensive.

Maybe I'm subconciously afraid they're using it to experiment on how to 'improve' the game. Shocked

The skills competition was good. I was embarassed to hear the Atlanta fans booing Marc Savard and then chanting Osgood sucks.......Great for Osgood to come out to a fan appreciation event and get told he sucks.

The creative shootout thing was freakin lame.....next time cancel it if Sid doesn't show up....or go get Robbie Schremp or something.......they showed a clip of a 10 year old that had better creativity than the stiffs they put out there. At least Ovechkin tried.

The Young Stars game was nice.....3 on 3 was ok....and even more stupid when the announcers started trying to shoe horn it in before shootouts in the regular season. Not a bad idea........but one gimmick in the shootout is enough.

I drifted in and out of the "game" last night......If I had to endure that type of league I wouldn't watch at all.

Eric Stall won a piece of crap Dodge.......who cares.

I enjoyed hearing Rick DiPietro swear into the Mic and Legace exclaim how many times he got lucky when it looked like skill to me.

At least they honored Willie O'Rea.

From a goalies perspective it looked like bad pickup for reasons Whistler touched on very well. The young stars things was really really really bad pickup, an embarrassment to hockey that should not be allowed. But then again the NHL is consistant in it's attempts to create a product for a demographic they will never ever have and ignore making a product for the fans they have.

Still better than the Pro Bowl or NBA All-Star game, not that that's anything to be proud of.

Timmay gave up 4 goals on 14 shots, despite playing his ass off
that's what the shooter tutor comment was about

The 3rd period was the only one I caught, sounds like I lucked out there
Granted it's not true hockey, but it was an entertaining offensive display
Nice seeing Savard actually on the ice with a line he doesn't have to carry

Dion Phaneuff slashed someone's stick in half near the net, and the Vs. crew called it a "great defensive play" Rolling Eyes
No, that is what we call "slashing" in real hockey, boys Laughing
