In addition to Luongo being voted to the NHL All-Star Game, and Drew McIntyre playing in the AHL All-Star Game, one might be surprised to learn than in fact Julien Ellis was also in the ECHL All-Star Game.

Yay, depth!

Corey Schneider writes

Dear Diary ,

Drew is going to the all star game , Im so happy for him. Roberto of course is a superstar all-star in Vancouver and even Julien is an all-star in the ECHL. Its not that Im jealous but I feel like I dont belong. I feel like I want to cry but I dont know how..... dont cry , Corey! be strong.

Don't look now, Luvah, but Shannon is back playing in Manitoba! He had an assist, was a +2, and apparently on the ice for all four Moose goals-for in his first game back... not too shabby!

Daniel Rahimi also scored his first AHL goal. (He'd been called up from Victoria, since all the Moose defense are in Atlanta tonight for a game in... I think it's called the ?NHL?).

Don't know if this is true, but I've heard that he's the anti-Edler... His development hasn't gone as well as expected.

Two significant goings-on in the Moose game against the Chicago Wolves tonight.

1. Goaltender Drew MacIntyre scored the winning goal in OT on the net vacated due to a delayed penalty. Laughing

2. A prospect defenseman named Kevin ?Bieska? or ?Biexka? made his AHL season debut for the Moose, earning an assist on the Moose's first goal. Apparently the Canucks were so impressed that he's signed a multi-million dollar contract and is on his way up to join the big club!

I thought the team that was about to be awarded a PP on a delayed penalty could not have a goal scored on them... Maybe I'm thinking of something else...

Oh, so now the Nuckies are giving away multimillion dollar contracts to AHL scrubs Laughing ... So which prospect cupboard shelf did he come from, the one marked "Barren", "Inept", or "Blackhole of Manitoba"? Twisted Evil [/razz]

No, if the other team touches the puck, then yes you can't be scored on, but if the team that is being awarded gthe PP somehow shoots it into their own net or make a pass that there teammate missses and slides into an empty net then it counts.

Over the years I've seen the Habs get a goal and have a goal scored on themselves in this senario

I remember the one that they scored... if I recall, it was against Hartford, and Kirk Muller got credit (as he had taken the faceoff right before the penalty was awarded, and no one else had touched it).

I remember Adam Oates scoring on his own net on a delayed penalty near the end of his career. Don't remember which team it was... likely when he was either in Anaheim or his short-lived Oiler stint.

Yes, that was exactly the one I'm thinking of. If I recall the Hartford player was in the corner and passed it back to the point, which the D missed and it went all the way into the net.

I don't get why when we have trouble scoring goals we call up Rypien is it just to get him back on the IR? Jaffray admittedly needs to adjust his timing in thNHL but looked solid everytime he was out there.

dont look now but Schnieder is on fire..6 straight wins in the last 2 weeks with no more than 2 goals allowed per game. He was 8-10-1 couple weeks ago , now he's 14-10-1. *cross fingers he's back on track*

8 wins in a row now for Schnieder!!! 3-0 and 3-1 back to back on the road in Hershey .. he's tearing up the AHL! there could be a "goaltending controversy" heading into the playoffs!

Schneider is still on fire btw... 12-1 since his hot streak begun ( right around the trade deadline coincidentally) and most recently shutout the first place Marlies last night. He's doing it with dominant numbers too. Talk about silverlinings , Hansen and Schneider have been horses down the stretch.

Mike Brown has been a prominant player too.

Check out the Manitoba Moose thread in the Minors forum... Schneider's #s are astounding...

interesting, the Moose just finished 4 games in 5 nights and Drew-Mac started the 4 game set with a loss and then Schneider played the last 3 and won including a back to back sweep of the Marlies. I really wonder if Schneider has stolen the no.1 job from the AHL all-star..

Ill say it again , thank you Tbay for saying no caz Nonis was trading Schneider at a low , he's skyrocketing again. His trade value will be where Smith's was next deadline if Schneider keeps this party going.
