Didn't even hear about this. Admittedly I really honestly tried to get into Dungeons & Dragons and other RPGs when I was younger, but just never put enough work or time into it to make it interesting. However some of the books spawned from the game made for great reading.

Given the review I think I'll just avoid this one like the plague, but it's a shame a major Hollywood studio isn't giving this a real chance, once you get past the fact that it's based off a game, the original Chronicles trilogy is one of the best-written fantasy epics out there IMHO...

The Dragonlance Chronicles have been recommended to me several times. I never picked them up. I haven't read Sci Fi/Fantasy books in many a year. I was adicted to them in college. Actually, I re-read the LOTR series before the movies came out and I have read all the Harry Potter books. But I have never gotten back into the genre.

I mostly read true crime books, some history... The last true crime book I brought with me on my travels was so sick that I actually picked up a fiction book to read instead. I'm thinking I should get back to the fun books again.

Maybe I'll get to the Dragonlance series...

Of all the books I've read from the AD&D books those are by far the best. It reads more like a straight-up adventure rather than a game, which is my big complaint with a lot of the other ones.

I also got into a few of the Forgotten Realms adventures, good but nothing great. I tried a few of the Drizzt Do'Urden books, I thought they were enjoyable but grew tired of them after a while.
