Emery could be facing an indefinite suspension without pay after he showed up at the rink at 4:04 p.m. yesterday for the club's 4 p.m. practice.
Instead of returning to Ottawa for the club's 1 p.m. charter to Long Island yesterday, players were given the option of meeting at the Islanders practice facility.
Emery? He just landed in another mess of trouble when he strolled into the rink late.
While Emery went immediately to the dressing room after arriving, he was informed by the coaching staff that he wasn't welcome on the ice for practice in preparation for tonight's game against the Islanders at Nassau County Coliseum -- which is where a source said Emery thought practice was being held.
Whether Emery went to the wrong rink is unknown. |

I heard a "so crazy it might be true" trade rumor of Emery for Khabibulin. Can't remember where... I think it was on Kulka's Korner, though. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Ottawa is about 3 mil under the cap right now. That trade would only eat up about a million in cap space, and leave them some room for forward help, if that's what they're looking to do. But having Bulin and Gerber would tie up $10.4 million in cap space next year I'm sure they'd rather dump Emery and then get Redden resigned than getting Bulin.
Try figuring out this mess:

Chicago is only on hook for 26 million next year, but with a few RFA(including Ruutu and Seabrook - trade us Ruutu please). Dealing Khabby would free up a lot of room, whether you get a tender in return or not. Sask would you want Chicags to go after Redden?

Chicago will likely make a play on one of the big 3 puckmoving d-men this UFA season... Campbell, Boyle, and Redden. They are apparently eyeing Campbell as a trade target before the deadline, and might shift attention to Boyle if that can't get done.
Obviously, if that's the type of d-man they want to add, then Redden has to be on their radar for July 1st as well.
Chicago wants to dump Khabibulin and move on in goal. Emery is an interesting fit in that regard. I'm not Emery's biggest fan from a technical standpoint, but I like him athletically.
I'm also eyeing Khabibulin as a potential Huet replacement for next year.
I'm not sure Ottawa wants to get stuck with Gerber as a $3.7m backup to a $6.75m starter. Maybe they think they can now move Gerber in the offseason as well. Who knows. _________________ "Oh my God. Considering Emery's antics and that they've been a distraction on a top club like Ottawa, I really don't think that he's a good fit for a young team like Chicago. Huet might actually be a great fit for Chicago if he becomes a UFA.
Chicago really should get one of those 3 D.
Trade us Ruutu and Lapointe at the deadline. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

The theory is Chicago would like Emery as part of their young core... he's still just 26, so he should be just coming into his own over the remainder of his contract. I also think Emery's swagger would be a very marketable commodity in Chicago.
Huet is older and wouldn't be a bad fit, either, but I think they view Emery as a potential home run while a guy like Huet would be a guy who could get them back into the playoffs but not further over his contract term.
Lapointe may as well get traded... and trading Ruutu to Detroit would be a move that you just know would bite Chicago in the ass. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Jim Kelley doesn't agree with ya on Emery's "swagger".
| Quote: |
The simple fact is the kid has become toxic and not just because he was a few minutes late for practice Monday.
Emery has passed the stage of being "free-spirited" and of "moving to a different tune". He's now morphed into the worst possible world for an elite athlete; he has become a talent that is too much trouble for his team.
You really expect someone to make a trade for a guy like that?
I understand players go off course from time to time, but Emery has given every indication that he's a player who has gone off the tracks. |

Obviously there's a limit to it. It's possible a trade could be what he needs to set him straight. He'd also get out of the public eye a bit in Chicago which would take him down a notch or two, even if it is a town that he can have a lot more fun in than Ottawa.
It could be a Mike Ribeiro type situation for Emery. Make him realize what it takes to be a pro. The swagger is off the charts right now and really is just a bad attitude at this point in Ottawa... but he can make it into a good kind of swagger with a correction. _________________ "Oh my God. Kypreos made reference to there being more problems with Emery than make it into public consumption.
I don't think he can be traded for anything at this stage and the best chance you have is to waive him and see if you can get rid of him on re-entry. That said if your Ottawa and you do that then who is Ottawa left with if Gerber gets hurt? _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

Brian Elliot, Jeff Glass. Hockeydb has no stats for Kelly Guard this season.
At this point with the way Emery has played if Gerber goes down, either one of those two will probably play better than Emery . But you go into the playoffs ready to ride your #1 guy, not building your team in the event that you lose your #1 guy. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Sure if your number one guy was more established than Gerber. I think most teams without a clear 1a option look to add an experience second option. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

Emery for Raycroft?
If Emery could be dumped of on re-entry waivers sure because I don't think Raycroft can at this point. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Bobby Mac says they don't waive or bury him, they need him this year.

I blame Bryan Murray & John Paddock ... They've been giving Emery problems all year! Don't they understand that he has other shit to do besides hockey!? The arrogance of this club continues to amaze me. Gerber knows he's a career back-up; question is:
DO THE REST OF THE SENATORS?
