But what a way to lose your only game of the season...

That play was one of the most ridiculous football plays that I've ever seen. The two guys that I was watching it with and I were all up standing after Eli somehow managed to pull out of that scramble...and then the pass and catch...unbelievable...there was no way that the Giants were losing the game after that play.

I seriously thought it was all over when there were - what? Two or three linemen who had a grip on his jersey? And then to scramble out of that and throw a desperation pass... Tyree squeezes it against his helmet and outmuscles to defensive back for the completion...

Unreal. That right there, was as awesome as the Joe Montana-to-Dwight Clark pass-(aka "the Catch") in the end zone many years ago. And certainly on par with the famed "Immaculate Reception" in the AFC final...

Brilliant last drive - had to be right up there among the best Superbowl finishes ever. Thank goodness it was a great game and not a blowout like everyone expected (including me Embarassed ).

Is there something known as The Play?

Toomer also had an amazing catch in the game, making a diving grab while dragging both feet so that he would be inbounds...

There was plenty of great defensive plays as well. Lots of sacks and pressure. Strahan and Tuck were huge. Hobbs made a great play to adjust and grab that tipped pass.

The only bad thing about this is that those old farts in Miami can keep gloating. But given how cocky the Pats have been this year I have even less sympathy than I had before.

A miserable football season is over. Thank God.

Running up the score on every single opponent isn't cocky, it's an FU to all the naysayers and "whistle blowers". Cocky is showing up on the sidelines to gloat when every undefeated team loses that first game...

Oh take off your New England-by-way-of-Vancouver blinders, the Pats were cocky the whole way through, especially Brady, who firmly stuck his foot in his mouth when he mocked Plaxico Burress's prediction. Oops.

Whatever, I don't read into spygate all that much, I've never been a NE fan, but even I was pulling for them to win this one just to shut those old farts in Miami the hell up. They didn't get it done and they deserve what they got. Whatever, they still have plenty of rings to show for it and I'm sure this isn't Brady's last Super Bowl by a long shot.

As E.L. said, BRING ON THE DRAFT! Maybe the Broncos will realize having a stupendous defensive backfield don't mean shit if you don't have a pass rush...you'd think the Mastermind was watching the game unfold and hopefully realized something there.

One kinda-sorta feel-good story here...Domenik Hixon. It was his hit on Kevin Everett that left the Bills TE with a broken neck, Hixon kinda fell apart after that and the Broncos promptly cut his ass. He found redemption and revitalization with the Giants. Good for him.

I was talking to a friend of mine on Friday and said "It might be fun to just take a 10er and throw it down on the Giants".

I didn't do that of course Mad

Great game , best finish to a Superbowl in my lifetime. I would also rank this a biggest pure upset that I've seen in a Superbowl for myself ( I wasnt alive when Broadway Joe made the guarantee)

I broke even on my props , all for nothing.

I had No Score before 6:45 1st qtr
NYG would have more rushing yds
Brady would complete 25+ passes
NE would score first
More pts in the 2nd half
NE would have more FGs

no parlays , so I had to make 6 seperate bets and I finished 4-2 I think. I didnt make too much. *edit I was 4-3 actually, I also had a pointspread teaser prop , I had the Pats at -6.. I knew I forgot something caz it didnt feel right being 4-2.

Alot of peeps lost alot of cheddar on the Pats...lots of angry Brady haters.

But I was entertained up the wazoo , I cant stand the Giants personally , dont like Eli BUT I was happy for COughlin and Eli to shut Tiki Barber up. The Manning brothers PWN the NFL right now. If NYG still want to fire Coughlin , I bet there's alot of teams who will take him now! Great finish.

oh yeah , I totally forgot to mention , how about that arrogant play by Bellichick , 4th and 12 on the 32 , it would be a 48 yd FG or something like that.. totally doable in that enviroment. And instead of kicking the safe FG , he goes for it? jr deserved to lose by 3. one of many crucial points.

Belichick got out coached in this game
that FG he didn't try is just one glaring example
Refusing to run the ball or throw more slants when your QB is getting raped is another.
Going empty backfield is just plain insane
Maroney had some nice runs on their last drive, when they finally started using him more than once in each series.

Belichick reminded me of Mike Martz in the 2002 Super Bowl, the way he didn't use Marshall Faulk and stubbornly kept throwing into the teeth of dime coverage.

The Pats players almost seemed to expect to make plays
They put themselves in the right positions, but didn't finish
Pierre Woods falls on a fumble in the first half, and somehow lets Bradshaw pull it back out from under him.
Twice on the final drive Manning threw what should have been a game ending interception, but both times they failed to seal the deal
Asante Samuel could have sealed it by hanging onto a potential pick
Same thing with Brandon Merriweather

The Giants completely outplayed, and out coached the Patriots, and deserved to win. Those who feel the Pats deserved to lose are entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine that you can go fuck yourself.

That said, there is one thing about the Giants last drive that still bothers me
Beyond Eli's Great Escape and Tyree's Unbelievable Grab:
They had a measurement after 3rd down, and needed a full yard.
The clock never started, the Giants ran on 4th down. They barely got back to the line of scrimmage. There was no measurement, they were just given the first down. Shocked
umm, it's only the Fucking Super Bowl, how about a measurement?
The replay showed the ref spotting the nose of the ball just over the line of scrimmage, and they needed a yard.
The Giants smartly hustled to the line and ran another play, a short throw with the receiver again tackled in bounds.
The clock STILL hadn't started; even after untangling the 4th down pile, the Giants had run 2 plays, and no time had come off the clock.
Manning was sacked for a yard loss with around 40+ seconds left, and the clock started counting UP!!! Shocked back up to 50 seconds...
Maybe the FOX clock was the one that was screwed up, not the official one
But it sure had everyone in the house howling

FOX was saying and it looked like 4th and inches. Giants got a brutal spot on that ball too that could have been a 1st down on that spot, according to my buddy who knows a hell of a lot more about football than me.

How about that "illegal batting" penalty Laughing

It might have been classless, but relative to 29 teams calling us out unfairly, running up the score was the definition of gentlemanly.

As for Belicheck, the clock ran out, then was reset to 2 seconds. He's not going to turn around once he's at center field and do it twice... just shows how much hate and jealousy there is for our franchise, which is too bad, because Brady and Robert Kraft are as classy a pair of men as you will find in professional sports...

Hate and jealousy? Fuck, everyone and their grandmother wanted the Pats to win this year. I've more sick of hearing about the Patriots than all of the latest celebrity meltdowns put together. Let's hear about something else for the next 10, 15 seconds...

The spot is where the ball is, not the receiver's feet ...
I've seen receiver's whose feet are in the end zone, not get the TD because they can't get the ball across..

I did some hunting on NFL.com, it looks like it was FOX's clock that was screwed up, not the official clock

the batting penalty, that was one you wish you could decline if you're the defense because it actually gave the Giants the down back
Similar to a play the first week of the season when the Broncos rookie RB deliberately swatted the ball out of bounds to avoid a huge loss of yards
He was penalized which actually helped the Broncos win, because the penalty was assessed from the line of scrimmage, not the spot of the foul
It also gave the Bronco's the down back Rolling Eyes

Sorry Bosc, outside of the New England area, and apparently one home in Vancouver, everyone wanted the Pats to LOSE every week

As for spygate, I'm still waiting for the Jets to produce THEIR videotapes
so they can surrender THEIR draft pick

Oh yeah, I know that's how it is for TD's, but my buddy said that the ball should have actually been spotted where his knee was down in that situation.

Well, yes if he's facing forwards Laughing
In this case he was coming back to the ball
Spotting from the knee is supposed bring the ball back, not forward
I actually thought the Giants got a very favorable spot on that
