Biggest test of the year: the supposedly hot and streaking Habs against a floundering and injury-ravaged Sens squad.

This is a must-win for the Habs. To quote Snoop Doog, we have to pay tha cost to be tha boss.

The Habs are flying higher than Ray Emery's stick at Sens practice.

Sorry, just had to put it out there...

This is the kind of game that Kovalev and Koivu need to grab the team by the throat and win it convincingly. But if anyone does it it'll probably be Higgins.

Higgins is quite a bit less reliable. I hope he does, but Komisarek just seems to be in the habit of taking over games right now.

Having a forward who can do it consistently is good, but having it in a defenseman(especially one at 25 years old) is even better.

I'll watch most of the first period of this tilt before the Wings-Wild game.

Higgins is hurt. He hasn't been skating with as much zip for two months now.

I think the habs are picking up the flu the isles had - hammer is out.

Also, hossa rumors are flying out of ckack these days. Hossa long term for higgins and emmylynn?

Me? I think Higgy stays no matter what, but I'm a fucking weirdo so what do I know....

Hopefully habs - hammer are better than the hens - crusty and the killer.

Ouch, misplay by Huet, Boo isn't strong on it at all and it ends up in the net.

The sportsnet announcers just said that Latendresse and Lapierre have a reputation for late and cheap hits, but they're the regular Ottawa announcers I think. What do you guys think? They also pointed out that Gui led the league in goaltender interference penalties last year. Confused

The last line wouldn't surprise me - he's a kid figuring out the big league, and who has no rep yet.

As far as the cheap shots, from the games I've seen, doubt it for Lats.

Cheap shots? How about Neil? He could take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned.

anyway despite trying to do their best impression of a cheap rug the habs held on. I don't think things will be so easy on Saturday night with crusty and the killer back in the lineup. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

So did the Habs past this test? And exactly how many more are there?

I'd say they got a 52% last night. It's a pass, but not one to show to the parents.

Koivu is still taking the dumbest possible penalties at the dumbest possible times. Honestly, how many times does the guy have to get called for him to figure out not to put your stick parallel to the ice on a guy when trying to retrieve a puck... in the offensive zone, nonetheless!

I can't believe that Spezza is being forced to play with Robitaille and Foligno with Alfie and Heatley down. You have some reasonably skilled players like Vermette and Kelly toiling on the bottom six and you give him a scrub and a rookie grinder?

Fisher was the only Sen that played a full 60 minutes. If that guy had 1/10 of Spezza's creativitiy he'd be a star.

I don't know where Huet was supposed to put that puck other than to Bouillon, every other passing lane was covered. Frankie's gotta make a quicker decision in that situation.... It's much easier for him to ring it around the boards than for Huet to.

I got the new Hockey News today. Their trade suggestion to get Jarret Stoll from Edmonton? Kyle Chipchura and Sergei Kostitsyn! Is that some Edmonton fanboy writing for them? That's a first round pick in 2004 and a guy that should've been a first round pick in 2005 for a first rounder in 2002 with a multi-million dollar salary. They just want to see Gagner with his junior linemate that's better than him. You heard me.

The day we trade a Kostitsyn is the day Gainey gets fired.

I never did renew my subscription, maybe I shouldn't pick it up again Laughing

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Fisher is awesome.

Good news: We have the hottest line in hockey right now. Huet is pretty good. Defence is awesome (although as mentioned there were a few mistakes made last night)

Bad news: Koivu/Higgins. Yikes, that Koivu penalty was just stupid and selfish. The guy has over 70 PIM already! If you don't know by now...

Brisebois must go. He makes it so much harder for whoever he's playing with on the back end.

Tiredness setting in. That's the second game in a row where we just ran out of steam.

Isn't O'Byrne supposed to be back by now?

If we weren't flirting with 1st place, I bet Valentenko would've been called up for a cup of coffee.

Gorges keeps getting better. That Streit-Gorges makeshift pairing held their own last night, not bad for two undersized blueliners that had never played a shift together... although Streit did get lucky that Neil decided to pass on the 3 on 1, which was quickly followed by Streit's goal.
