Re: Saku...
The good thing is, he'll have one shot to redeem his season... and that's the playoffs. He's always been a top player come post-season, and he'll need to overcome whatever is dragging him down for it.
Koivu's season is reminiscient to me of Modano's moping in Dallas... which he got over, eventually. Of course, it's also reminiscient of Naslund's indifference in Vancouver. We're just going to have to be forced to ride it out and hope he sees the positives going on and quits dwelling on his personal negatives. _________________ It's backwards time. |

I think Higgins has been hurt for the last 2 months. Remember he had that knee/leg injury during a game and came back a few shifts later? I think he was hurt more than he led on. He just doesn't look fast out there. He's very tentative.
As for Saku, it's scary because I don't think he's moping, and he's still giving a full effort - he just looks slower and he's making bad decisions because he doesn't have the same peripherals anymore, so he can't recover from his mistakes.
This team desperately needs another forward, but I'm not keen on the idea of dealing multiple young players since we're building for a long-term future.
Mark Streit is officially one of the most underrated players in the league. The guy does it all, really. Someone could offer him Brian Rafalski money in the offseason. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen
