I'm a little shocked at the number of players that reportedly have the no-trade. That's disappointing if they are being endorsed onto contracts that opening. I can understand some old/veteran franchise players (i.e., a Joe Sakic) w- the no trade; but some of these other guys!?

I thought I remember hearing that Kovalev did not have a NTC. And Hamrlik's is just goofy... his contract terms are a no trade clause on its own. 
I thought Kolzig had a NTC, but maybe he took that out of his most recent contract extension.
Interesting that Alfredsson doesn't have one, considering how much of a bargain his contract is, you'd think he would have fought for favourable terms such as a NTC or a no movement clause.
Thornton has one? Must've kicked in as soon as he would've hit UFA age on his Boston-signed deal (Boston dealt him before that kicked in), because his recent SJ extension hasn't kicked in yet.

I like stats & here is a particularly interesting one from Chuck Gormley of the SportingNews:
Last February 27, overzealous general managers orchestrated 25 deals involving 44 players and 28 draft picks in the hours leading up to the trading deadline.
In the 26 days of February before that frenzied finale, another 24 trades involving 47 players and 21 draft picks were consummated.
Of those 91 players who switched uniforms, One -- Ducks grinder Brad May -- had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup.
