Can't stop listening to "Monsters" by Band of Horses. I'm usually not into sincerity, but this song has an aloofness and a banjo/table slide thing I really dig. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

Ashlee Simpson's video is really funny and very intentionally terrible. It's literally a commercial, carefully marketed effort to make it seem like she's on speed and going crazy. It took a team of hundreds to likely create what amounts to a discarded Bowie song from the Scary Monsters session. For that, I salute thee.

(Don't bother pointing out how it's a ripoff of Gwen Stefani's "What Are You Waiting For?") _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

| I'm not a Tragically Hip fan - but the song "Wheat Kings" is playing on the radio right now - I really like that song. |

A self-made compilation I call, "Canada's great shames of the 80's"
1. "Hollywood" by Streetheart
2. "The Kid Is Hot Tonite" by Loverboy
3. "China Boys" by the Payolas
4. "Wind Him Up" by Saga
5. "Don't Walk Past" by Blue Peter
6. "Too Bad" by Doug and the Slugs
7. "I'm An Adult Now" by The Pursuit of Happiness
8. "Your Daddy Don't Know" by Toronto
9. "It Doesn't Really Matter" by Platinum Blonde
10. "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova
11. "Illegal" by Corbeau
12. "Strange Animal" by Larry Gowan
13. "Whatcha Gonna Do?" by Chilliwack
14. "L'Affaire Dumoutier" by The Box
Yikes, that looks pretty lame on paper, but it's a fun mix. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

And aare these Canada's "great" shames of the 80s, or the "secret" shames of the 80s. I don't think any of those songs cracked top 40 outside of Canada, did they?
Also, "Patio Lanterns" should be added if you're really going for the defining and shameful Canadian hits of the 80s. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Their is no shame in that song...you know what music today lacks? quietly spoken parts.

And I was wondering why the Spoons song Romantic Traffic wasn't on the list... Or Triumph and Follow Your Heart!
Wow - it's kind of fun thinking of 80's Canadian bands! The other band I liked and you got me thinking of was Grapes of Wrath...
OH OH OH - and what about Mitsou and Bye Bye Mon Cowboy?

As per a facebook group I'm part of:
"KILL Kim Mitchell, Bryan Adams, and Tom Cochrane!"
No other song that has ever been created can send me into fits of rage like "I Am A Wild Party" does. |
