This is a topic where we can comment on Hollywood, Fame, and Media instead of creating new posts on news items.
Though Hollywood produces the majority of movies and television in the US, I am personally not in favor of this system. The monster that has become "Hollywood" is, in my opinion, the antithesis of art. There are many reasons for this:
* Producers
* Unions
* Old Boy Network
* Media
There is a tiny inroad into this by Independant Movies - but not enough. In television, the introduction of BBC and CBC has led to the Cable surge of programs. I remember when I had to subscribe to PBS to see quality programming such as "I, Claudius".
Media is sleazy in all countries. I honestly do not know how to eliminate this. Do we try to educate the people? Do we try to educate the Media? I do not believe that people always want to read about Brittany - it is just that the media puts her on everything. Maybe some people should start a "grass-roots" campaign?
Regardless, do you really want to hear of Angolena's pregnancy? Do you really care about Brittany's latest woes?
I don't.
But I do love the "arts" and will continue to enjoy them.
