Joe Louis Arena
Detroit, MI

Wednesday, October 24, 2007
7:40 p.m. EDT, 4:30 p.m. PDT

Television: RIS, TSN (HD), FSN-D (HD)

Storylines:

Vancouver is playing its third game in four nights, while Detroit hasn't played since Saturday. In other words, expect the Canucks to have more jump in the early-going, before fatigue sets in and Detroit takes the game over in the second half.

Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa is out for Vancouver, as the Bieksa clan await their first baby. Some have suggested that related distractions might explain BXA's erratic play of late. There is some hope that Sami Salo might finally draw in, but no promises. If no Salo, then both Alexander Edler and Mike Weaver would draw in.

Detroit has won two straight, while Vancouver has dropped three of its last four games. Vancouver always seems to get up to play Detroit, though, and went 3-1 against the Wings last season.

Detroit has summoned Igor Grigorenko from Grand Rapids of the AHL., taking the spot of the injured Johan Franzen.

This is, without question, the NHL's foremost battle of the Henriks. Currently, Zetterberg is tied for the NHL lead with 17 points, while Sedin is second on Vancouver behind his brother, with a more modest 8. If Henrik Sedin were the Canucks' point leader, you'd have to think that would be the first time in NHL history that two teams led by a "Henrik" in scoring squared off.

Jeff Cowan remains injured for Vancouver, while I'm reading that Dallas Drake might be for Detroit, but one of the forum locals can give the facts.

good news , bad news for Van

bad news is , doesnt look good for the Canucks tonight

good news is I bet $50 on Det ...its good news caz in the past my so called " guarantees" blow up in my face.

lots of media drama with Naslund and Vigneault over the last few days. Naslund is criticizing the offensive system and Vigneualt fired back " the grinders have as many points as the skilled players caz they work hard" ..Im paraphrasing , but pretty close

If Salo does get back tonight.. I still say Weaver made a pact with the dark lords of hockey.. i mean , what are the odds Bieksa now suddenly is off for family and Weaver is handed a spot again!

In the time that it took you to write that, you probably could have looked it up on Wikipedia and googled some images Razz

Glenn Healy reporting from the little space between the benches does nothing for me.
