I like this move. Skrastins has overperformed for awhile now.....and Salei is certainly an upgrade.

Not really, the only year he overperformed was his first year with us. That year he was a force, even factoring in on the offensive side of things. The last two seasons though he grew more and more hesitant and just tried sitting back and blocking shots, instead of going after the opposition in the corners. Our defense was waaaaay better last season when he went down and guys like Sauer and Vaananen started knocking people around.
Only minus I could possibly see out of this is that Salei tends to take some stupid penalties, and given how crappy the Avs PK is that could be a problem. But hey if his gritty play rubs off on the rest of the blueline we should be okay. |

I mean, not totally black-leather jacket bad ass, but pretty tough nonetheless.
