Didn't see this one coming...

I'm guessing that the Caps will try to lock him up for a while. Kolzig retires? Sad

Just a hunch... Gainey must've been pissed off by Huet changing his name pronunciation.

And yeah, it's the end for Olaf.

Don't be surprised if Halpern gets shipped to Montreal...possibly for a certain 2nd rounder. No guarantee, but the pieces seem to fit.

washington fans weren't pleased with his performance this year. but he's olie the goalie. he did a good job in washington over his career. he'll take care of his child now. always liked his accent when he tried to speak german. Laughing

How long is Kolzig signed, could he fit in Ottawa's contract situations?

His contract is over at the end of this season.

He's a UFA in July.

Can't access NHLNumbers.com right now (too busy), but Halpern is signed for the next 3 years I believe. Doesn't seem worth it at all.

Hedberg part of a package maybe?

That's what I think is happening. He's a capable backup and if it came down to it he had a great playoff run with the Pens - remember Moose mania?

Washington's 2nd rounder is going to be not too far down the draft order from Montreal's 1st round pick in a deep draft. Gainey's getting ready to move his first, probably for Hossa.

That's the Ducks pick though...

I stand corrected. I didn't realize Gainey had moved his first rounder this year to the Ducks.

It's the second that is the Ducks.

Yeah, what's up with his insistence both in L.A. and now in Montreal to pronounce it "Hewitt?" Even most Americans would rather pronounce it the proper French way.

Halak seems to have options on pronunciation as well. Shocked
