The best acquisition by far this deadline. Dallas is going to pass Detroit in no time.

Pfft. He only wishes he could be the guy once traded for Joe Thornton.

I have to say, I may become a Richards mark in no time. Homey set the dinner table last night with assists. Career high of 5 to help Hagman get his first career hat trick. Some of those assists were pretty sick...

Granted, it was against Chicago...but Richards was on fire.

My understanding is he put up the fairly respectable numbers he has thus far in the year passing to scrubs, so yeah, give him some NHL quality talent bury his passes, and I think he will put up some points on the board!

At his best, Brad Richards is far more of a complete player than anyone gives him credit for.

Yup. Tortorella has always very defensive of him as well when people pointed out his decreasing point totals and bad +/- in the past couple of seasons as well.

Did the Richards trade killing the Dallas dressing room?

Dallas has gone 1-6 in March and 2-6 since acquiring Richards. Suddenly, I don't feel so bad about the Nucks missing out on the Richards sweepstakes. Twisted Evil

I totally agree... Aside from the rocket start first game, Richards hasn't done much to help the Stars win games. They have lost 7 of their last 8 games and they are stinking up the ice. Hopefully Tippet will snap some freakin' sense back into them.

Regarding Richards...

Here's a snippet from a recent article in the Dallas Morning News:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/hockey/stars/stories/032608dnspocowlishaw.2c3e80a.html

Quote:
As for Dave Tippett and Richards, the Stars coach isn't giving him the ice time he needs. Only three times in nine games has Richards played 20 minutes. In Tampa Bay, he regularly played 23, 25 even 27 minutes a night.

The Stars may be deeper at center than the Lightning, but between power plays, penalty kills and Richards' ability to at times share the ice with Mike Modano, he ought to be getting more than 18 minutes a game to prove his worth.

The one thing the Stars have in their favor is that the NHL playoffs are far different from the NBA's. Upsets are common. Hot goalies and hot power plays carry teams that you don't expect to see succeed. Richards can still help in that area. This is a man who won the Conn Smythe Trophy at 24. He gets a clean slate once the playoffs begin.
