This team acted like a bunch of idiots tonight after getting a beating from the Wings. 2 guys go after Maltby in front of the Wings bench. I'm no fan of Maltby's antics, but somehow that ended up being a 4-on-4 when he had 2 Blues go after him when he was changing. Then, Woywitka nails Kopecky in the head with a blatant cheapshot and who ends up fighting Stempniak? Brian Rafalski Not much of a fight, Rafalski body-slammed him. Detroit ends up with a PP and Murray tosses out Matt Walker, Jamal Mayers and a couple of other tools to go after Downey.
Datsyuk also scored an empty netter after Jackman held onto it far too long with Datsyuk on him when he should and could have gotten rid of it. That was funny. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

They've made some decent moves (signing Legace, trading for Boyes, dumping Dead Weight for Andy MacDonald) but conversely they've invested a lot of coin (McKee, Jackman, Kariya) where it might come to seriously bite them in the ass. The good news is that while they might run into some cap issues down the road they have a few blue-chip potential stars (Schwarz, Perron, E.J.) in their system.
I absolutely HATE Andy Murray...but I respect him as a coach. He teaches a fun system and regularly encourages his defensemen to get involved with the offense. He's also one of those coaches who IMO gets the most out of his talent. |
