Mattias Ohlund was absent from practice due to a knee injury that was incurred in last night's contest against the Avalanche. Ohlund underwent an MRI this afternoon to determine the condition of his knee and the extent of any damage, more on his status will be announced tomorrow morning. Neither the coaching staff, medical staff or Ohlund can recall the incident that caused this trauma. Needless to say, Ohlund will not play in the Canucks Thursday night tilt with the Nashville Predators.

With another defenceman out of the line-up, the Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have recalled blueliner Luc Bourdon from Manitoba.

At least Bourdon gets a bit more action. Vigneault sticks rigidly to replacing LH defensemen with other LHers, and RH defensemen with other RHers (which is why Bourdon was sent down and Weaver played when Miller was out).

Ohlund might be done for the season.

so far good news for Miller , no seperation or dislocation , no broken bones.. .but further test to check for ligament or muscle damage coming up.

Bieksa and Kesler had x rays today , Bieksa's wrist from his fight and Kesler's foot from a blocked shot. No word but sounds precautionary than serious.

In the second period in LA, Mitchell ever so lightly nudged Salo's skate and Sami went down in a heap. He didn't return to the ice but did return to the bench briefly in the third. Not sure what the extent of the injury was...

So my theory that you can injure Salo by breathing on him has been proven correct? Laughing

That's everybody's theory. What's astounding is the sheer variety of the injuries -- and all of them have been of a pretty freak nature, and unrelated.

So, because he took a dive, he hurt himself?

Knee surgery to end Ohlund's season

The Vancouver Canucks will have to play out the final stretch of the regular season without one of their key defenceman.

Mattias Ohlund did not accompany the team on its trip to Phoenix and has flown back to Vancouver to undergo surgery Thursday to remove bone chips in his knee.

Look on the bright side, they're forced to let Boudon sink or swim. He's probably ready to grow by stretching, i.e. won't regress with added responsibility.

Either that or Luvah's wet dream (Mike Weaver for 20 minutes a night) comes to fruition...

No, that's Ryan Shannon.

And a bulk pack of Kleenex and family-size bottle of hand cream.

Nonis says Miller is out for the remainder of the reg season and no due date back because no improvement has been made on his shoulder.

Wow TSN is saying Ohlund could be back for the start of the playoffs - assuming he'd have somewhere to play - much earlier then I expected.
