Lidstrom returns after missing 6 games, the longest stretch that we have played without him since he joined the team 16 seasons ago.

Lidstrom does so many things well but not in a highlight-reel fashion. Man does the game change when he's on the ice. He's looked very good and of course, hasn't missed a beat. 9:23 of ice time in the first period.

2-0 Detroit so far with a couple of power play goals, thanks to some pretty chincy calls. Both goals were as a result of some precision passing and puck movement. Hudler got his first in 20+ games, which is nice to see. Kronwall helped the second goal happen taking a pass and immediately fed it right to Hudler for the one-timer. He's made quite a few excellent plays in the offensive zone since his return from injury and has logged some big minutes, over 24 in his last 3 games since his return from injury. He's now up to 5 assists since his return, with this being his 4th game.

Here come the even up calls. Hudler gets a holding call for simply having one hand off of his stick. Watson told him that he can't reach in like that. His hand didn't even touch the guy.

All right boys. You know they're looking for even-up calls. Hands on the stick and sticks on the ice.

Detroit's PK has been perfect on the two PPs that Nashville has had.

Rafalski just made a perfect play on a 2-on-1 against. Forced the guy enough to the outside to take away any shot and then drops to a knee to stop the pass attempt.

Oh ya Ericsson is in and Lebda is out. Only about 3 minutes of ice time though with Chelios being the only remaining regular out due to injury.

Attaway Lilja! Off the boards and out.

I rip on Lilja, but for the quality PK minutes that he logs, his physical play and shot-blocking, he's still great value at 1 mil per season. I just hate the simple peewee mistakes that he makes Mad

Zetterberg made an awesome spin move to send a pass to someone, couldn't see who at the angle from my can to the tv, and Mason made a nice stop. Dom made a nice stop on someone on a breakaway.

Dom just got ran over behind the net by Hamhuis. He lied there for a while in typical fucking Hasek fashion, so he's likely fine.

Sweet wraparound by Stuart!

Mason if you're gonna go down on the goal line to stop the low ones, you better have your legs spread out post-to-post instead of being in a compact butterfly Confused

Franzen is having a great game in front of the net. Lidstrom, as always, blasts away looking at the net instead of the puck and Franzen makes a really nice tip after it hits a Nashville defenseman on the way in.

4-0 Detroit. All from secondary sources. Awesome!

Murph is talking about Filppula and just showed how was going to the boards on the Stuart goal, took a look and purposely let it go by while he was getting taken out and it led to the goal. Voltron looks better and better every time I watch him play. He's an intelligent player and has a really sweet set of hands.

The Rad draws a penalty driving hard to the net to get a 5-on-3, and Weber breaks Hasek's shutout bid with a cannon blast just after the 2 man advantage expires.

Radulov has been the most dangerous player on the ice for Nashville, but their offense has been almost non-existent. 13 shots, and Hasek has made a couple of good breakaway saves.

Mickey Redmond is awesome. "#93's out there looking for the coup du chapeau".

That call on Kronwall was horrendous.

Dom makes another breakaway stop on Dumont. Just stayed square to him and Dumont put it right into his crest.

Evil or Very Mad Nashville makes it 4-3 on some good work by Erat and Tootoo jams it in.

4-3 Final. Detroit completely dominated for 50 minutes, and then let up and gave up 3.

Two from Franzen in his first multi-goal game of his career. He had a great game and had plenty of good chances.
