Since this has been an ongoing issue, I think it's time we kept track of this guy's Evil-ity... Mad

The latest was an apparent stomp on Ryan Kesler in a home game against Vancouver; no penalty on the play, and Kesler was okay.

Iain McIntyre wrote:
ANAHEIM, Calif. - Chris Pronger stomped on Ryan Kesler, and the Anaheim Ducks stomped on the Vancouver Canucks.

Kesler, fortunately, was alright. We'll see about the Canucks, who provided little initial resistance and were beaten 4-1 here Wednesday, halting their three-game winning streak and stalling their National Hockey League playoff drive.

Kesler, cross-checked from behind by Pronger after scoring earlier this season, appeared to be deliberately stepped on by one of the league's dirtiest players when the Canuck fell at the Duck captain's feet after delivering a check in the second period.

"He stomped on me," Kesler said. "He got me on the calf."

Yup, throw the book at Simon but let Pronger go every time....not the first time he's done this either.

I'd like to see someone break this guys ankle.

And what is with everyone taking cheapshots at Kesler this year!?!?

I wonder when, if ever, the league will finally give Pronger "repeat offender" status when handing him suspensions? 20? 50?

A couple of quotes from different users on HFBoards sum up what I think about this (and as I stated in the Canucks' forum, I fully anticipated that the league would hide behind the lack of immediately available, Youtube-outrage-friendly, video):

Quote:
When Avery called Laraque a monkey, it appears the NHL was going to take action if they had any corroborating evidence. Since it was audio, I assume anyone stepping up to reinforce Laraque's story would suffice. They took 2 days to investigate.

Since this is visual, and hundreds of people saw it, including media, the fact they would dismiss this so quickly without any true investigation shows how disinterested the league is in suspending Pronger.

Quote:
The announcer saw it, the player complained. The league reviewed it. Tell us the results! What did they review? Show us the video. There are cameras all over the building, they are constantly filming whether they are on air or not. Even if its inconclusive, say so and show us why. The league is silent yet again and it pisses people off. At least say something.

Geeezzz, that looks just as bad as Simon's. This is 100% bullshit. Is Pronger going to have to KILL someone before it even gets looked at by the league. Mad Rolling Eyes

Better footage now, and it's really quite blatant:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt5rBWarx6A

McKenzie's reaction:

Bob Mackenzie wrote:
Earlier in the day, I suggested the NHL could never suspend Pronger based on the original video view that was, at best, ambiguous.

The same thing cannot be said after watching Pronger deliver a "stomp" on Kesler that is much clearer on the second generation of video that became available.

This wasn't nearly as flagrant or obvious or malicious as Chris Simon's stomp on Jarko Ruutu but it was reckless, careless and, given Pronger's long rap sheet with the NHL, it's difficult, if not impossible, to give him the benefit of doubt.

It was probably clear enough without the second video -- again, tons of eyewitnesses -- but this is beyond damning. And I disagree that it isn't as bad as the Simon stomp. It looks a little more spur-of-the-moment, but just as hard.

The video is clear. Shocking that the vid didn't come out until dickhead made his decision not to suspend pronger. It was not the same as Simons as pronger didn't drag his leg out from underneath him with the intention of stomping on him. Prongers stomp happened during a hockey play and did it because he was pissed that kessler tied his leg up for all of 1 second. It however was a stomp and should be suspendable. I say 10 games due to prior infractions. If he gets nothing, what's he gonna do next time?

With the new video footage TSN shows the people in favour of suspending Pronger @ 93%.

A bit lopsided. It's obvious isn't it?

Yeah, but it's Burke and Pronger. He'll probably get one game Rolling Eyes And of course, Anaheim and Burke will be outraged, Pronger will plead that he's too tall and can't control his appendages, and that he's an angel with no history of violent behaviour or suspension. And that there was no penalty called in the first place!!!

Either way the NHL looks ever-more foolish because of this...Colin Campbell or whoever the fuck is in charge of discipline should step down after this season and the whole fucking system should be overhauled.
