This NW race will be quite interesting. Really, 1st vs. 2nd in the NW will face each other, with 1st getting home ice advantage. Finishing 2nd will be as much of a relief as finishing 1st... you can avoid the true elite Western teams for one more round when maybe injuries will have lessened their power a little bit.
Minny has continued to baffle me this year... this division should've been theirs by now, IMO. This team still goes through extended slumps and seemingly can't get over that hump to become a true contender in the West. And it's not just Gaborik's health that is keeping them back, IMO.
With Chicago out of it, Minny defaults to being my WC team. Go Wild! _________________ It's backwards time. |

Yeah, I have to agree with you there (about the NW being MN's to lose). They should have locked up the #3 seed weeks ago... _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

The point about finishing second really being a blessing in disguise is a great one - especially since you WILL be playing a division rival, so you'll at least have familiarity on the road in games 1,2,5 and 7.
Trust me, the Wild has baffled its fans all season too. This is a team that still has shown no ability to play the tough kind of hockey that wins in the playoffs - despite Risebrough bringing in scores of tough guys. The point is that tough HOCKEY, not necessarily tough GUYS wins in the playoffs - and the Wild still are not a "tough hockey" type of team.
Backstrom is playing better over the last 9 games, which is huge, though.
And keep an eye on Burns and Koivu. I think those two guys - more than Gaborik - are the keys for the Wild. |

I'm not quite sure what everyone saw or sees in the Wild,I picked them for 3rd at best in the NW,Slightly ahead of the Avs,They have so so defence,so so goaltending and just average offence. Both the Flames and Nucks have better Goaltending imo,Van has better Defence,Calgary has better offence and Minny isn't any better offensively than Vancouver is either,So why the high rating?? Sorry guys,I just don't buy it,IMO Minnesota is right where I figured they would be,Fighting for the last playoff spot |

| I think that the Wild will take first in the NW and after watching tonights game I hope that Vancouver will take 2nd and match up against Minny in the playoffs. That was a good game. Way to hold on for the win. |

two huge games in the division tonight.
CGY @ COL - I have to think Canucks and Wild fans would rather see Colorado win this game, although if the Flames do then I think the Avs are out of the division title race.
MIN @ EDM - I have to think Canucks fans are rooting for Edmonton in this one. |
