Dennis Maruk potted 60 goals for the Capitals in 1981-82, a team record that has stood for 25 seasons. But, records are meant to be broken, and Ovechkin will probably break a few more by the time he's done his career.
Despite losing the goals record, Maruk will maintain his assists (76) and points (136) records for at least another year.

The record was broken last night in Raliegh with Goal #61. Just one of many that will fall in his career, I'm sure.

Maruk did it in 1981-82, of course. If you translate Ovechkin's totals into 1981-82 goals, I'm sure it's closer to 80. To use one of Bosc's favorite expressions, Ovechkin "is sick."
