I hear St. Petersburg needs a new backup. _________________ It's backwards time. |

| Seriously, what happened to that guy? He played awesome in goal in front of a suspect D, and then fell completely apart the year after. Did opposing forwards figure him out? Did he forget how to play? Is it the porn 'stache? What gives? |

Maybe just the curse of Boston goaltenders? Particularly, Blaine Lacer, Jim Carey (and now Andrew Raycroft)?
Interesting however he wasn't placed on waivers. Clemmenson is just as good (if not better) than Raycroft ... they could have easily had him up playing backup, unless they really did want him as a 'mentor' for Justin Pogge?
I don't know ... I'm routing for the B's in the East right now anyway. I'll hop on there bandwagon for the playoffs.

Too slow... just not athletic enough and it seems that he doesn't have good tracking skills to help him cheat a bit to compensate. He's a big positional goalie... and he's just no Giguere. Goaltending post-lockout requires better lateral movement... especially in the East, playing behind those suspect D's and super-talented forwards.
Also, I'm sure confidence has a lot to do with it... and Toronto is not the place to resurrect a fledgling career. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Kyle Wellwood done for remaining balance of the season ... opposite groin being surgically repaired to the one he had fixed last year? Sundin has apparently hung up the skates as well .... As a Leaf? Or for good?

"Over the past three seasons with Oshawa, Mitchell has played in 195 games, collecting 183 points (87 goals, 96 assists) along with 223 penalty minutes"
Butch will love this guy. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

Kyle Wellwood is one of the most overrated "prospects" I've ever witnessed. If for whatever reason he manages to stay healthy, I doubt he'd put 50 points in a full season.
Hopefully Burke is a smart guy and he dumps him, Pogge, and all the other sad sack blue chippers for some draft picks. Starting over means getting rid of the false hope players too. There really is no one of value in the T.O. system. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

The only 5th round picks I've seen overrated as prospects were in the Bruins system Dude's weak, slow, inconsistent, but has great vision, hands and passing skills. I thought that was always the scouting report on him _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

There are no stars sure, but Tlusty, Stralman, Pogge, and some Russian kid coming over next year could be solid NHL'ers. Sure not a great system but there is a few pieces with some value that you can hold onto for the rebuild. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

Strahlman is worth a damn, but not much else. I can't say anything about that Kumelin guy. Tlusty revealed too much about his potential growth already. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Innuendo aside for a moment...Am I the only one that liked what he saw of Tlusty last season? The numbers where not great, but on ice I thought the potential looked really good and guys who expected to be two way guys generally need to age a little to reach the potential, more so than offensive guys. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

I guess I was looking for the offensive upside. I didn't see a great shot, be it in velocity, accuracy, or release. I didn't see great puckhandling skills... maybe I was looking for the wrong skill set. Also, maybe I wasn't watching closely enough... I got so sick of the Leafs' drama that I shut them out as much is possible when I have a roommate that inexplicably is a fan. _________________ It's backwards time. |

He is five or six years younger than Plekanec.
As twenty year olds. Not saying he will be as good or better, just saying imports new to the NA games take time often.

For the first season in my life I was able to watch more Wings games than Leaf games(besides the long Detroit playoff runs, that is). I don't think I watched Tlusty play a single time this season. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Plexo was considered a future 3rd line center with blazing speed at 19. Maybe a Brian Rolston type was forseen as a maximum potential. Also, Plex was a 3rd liner on that Hamilton team that should've won the Calder Cup... look at how stacked that team was:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0007912003.html
Anyways, my point is, I don't see anything clear cut about Tlusty at this point. He should be a NHLer, I just don't know how good of one. He doesn't seem to have a stand out characteristic to me, so whether he ends up being Jan Bulis or Milan Michalek is a matter of debate.... a mix of injuries, and coaching I'd think as well. _________________ It's backwards time.
