Last night had a thriller between Atlanta and Tampa Bay in which Tampa Bay ended up solidifying their status as the worst team in the Eastern Conference, with Ilya Kovalchuk playing the spoiler role for his own team, selfishly scoring twice late in the third to win 2-0.

It looks like it's a two horse race between LA and Tampa for the coveted 48% odds for the right to draft Stamkos... LA has a two point advantage with each team having 3 games to go, and LA has the easier schedule in which to secure last place: a home and home against SJ, and a home game against Anaheim. The Lightning counter with 3 road games, facing Carolina, Washington, and then Atlanta again to wrap up their milestone season.

I saw the highlights, and they weren't from a TV feed. I think the cameras were all the NHL's own. Laughing Confused

Actually, it was a Versus night... isn't there a dumb rule that you can't broadcast on local cable if Versus is showing their "Game of the Week" on their channel?

I have no idea. Though that would go along with the NHL's TV policy of broadcasting to the least amount of homes as possible.

Altitude generally doesn't broadcast games if the Avs are on Vs, don't know how it is anywhere else.

I think Caniac Chuck complained about this once before... it generally screws the Southeast teams because Vs. would rather show Atlantic Division games or Detroit.

Lecavalier and St. Louis have folded like tents since the team lost Prospal and Richards. I read today that St. Louis is 9 points and -21 in his last 20 games. Fugly.

Well, they did that and apparently the new ownership wants to reduce payroll from where it was this year...wouldn't you want out to?
