I'm not normally a fan of death metal type stuff, but my co-worker's nephew is the drummer for a fairly popular band called "Still Remains".

Saw them in Austin a few months back. They are great in concert and their stage presence is pretty impressive for this type of genre.

I was quite surprised by their music and really liked it! Unfortunately they recently posted a message on their myspace page stating they are breaking up. Sad

Concert: A-

If you haven't heard them, give them a listen.

Well Razz, from what Tom and Shorty are saying, your pals Rascal Flatts and their show have affected the ice in a negative way. For some reason Edmonton seems to be able to cope with it. Vancouver? Hmm...

I was on my way to rehearsal, wondering why the fuck there were so many people wearing cowboy hats downtown.

What, you mean I can't blame some dinky, new country band for my team's utterly pathetic collapse at the most important point of the season?

Of course, Bruce Springsteen was to blame when the night after his show the Canucks went up 2-0 and ended up blowing it large and losing 4-2 to the Avalanche.

Heh, that dinky country band is about the top touring act going in country music today... they're usually an amazingly good entertainment value..,.

Laughing

I won't say that I know that they're one of the biggest touring acts in country music right now, but I am definitely aware of their fame. Me throwing "dinky" in was just my little "pee on you new country" statement.

I will say that I knew techs at both shows and I saw for myself what Rascal Flatts was touring with compared to what Bruce Springsteen was touring with and apparently (since I didn't actually see either show) Bruce did way more with about a third of the amount of gear. Granted, you mentioned that the lead singer for Rascal Flatts was sick and I'm willing to bet that Bruce has been at it for longer than the entire band combined.

I actually dig a lot of their "pop-country synthetic crap". Me I'd be bored silly at best at a Springsteen concert. I think the Beatles are awful. To each their own.

Gary Levox apparently had laryngitis in Saskatoon (fuck you Bruce Laughing). Last year they had all the same stuff but used it. When on their game you'll be hard pressed to find a more entertaining live act; they're showman first and singers second.

But on this night... not so much...

So, you're saying that they are the Backstreet Boys of fake country?

No I'm saying people go to a concert to be entertained. If they solely wanted to listen to the music they'd either buy the CD or download the song from the internet. You pay $100 a ticket for Rascal Flatts because you want to see their "live act"... and usually they put on one of the very best shows in country in terms of pure entertainment.

You can hate on them all you want. Most of Nashville did too. Me, I thought they were way too good to survive when I bought their debut album. Thankfully I was wrong. The biggest country detractor cannot deny that Rascal Flatts is one of the biggest grossing acts across any music genre, and have been for multiple years now... The people, as they say, have spoken - with their wallets...

One last thing - the Beatles do suck. All their songs sound the same and Alabama had far more of a revolutionary impact on music than did the four queers from England. 43 number one hits, something the Beatles could only have dreamed of...

So we can judge a bands contribution to music by their #1 hits? I guess Robert Johnson had nothing to do with anything then...

No, its just one example of their superiority to the Beatles, that's all...

Yes I am. It's tough to compare across genres, but I maintain that Alabama had a more profound and revolutionary impact on country music than did the Beatles on whatever their genre was...

ummm....all of them???

Probably a good 50%+ of all musical artists everywhere name The Beatles as a huge influence. Nobody outside country names Alabama, and probably less within country name Alabama ahead of names like Cash, Nelson, and Jennings.[/b]

This is Razz. He says things like this because he thinks it makes him "cool" or "edgy".
