Good news on two fronts:

http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/sports/story.html?id=5779599d-7a87-4310-8064-0f20b27d2dfe&k=9467

Brad Ziemer wrote:
SALO CLOSE: Things may not have gone the way the Canucks had hoped at the RBC Center on Monday night, but a few hours earlier the team certainly liked what it saw on the ice.

Sami Salo was booming slap shots from the blue line.

The Canuck defenceman, out since training camp with a fractured left wrist, looks like he's almost ready to play and the betting is he will be back in the lineup on Wednesday night when the Canucks meet the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

"Today was the best day so far since I got the cast off," Salo said after the team's optional morning skate. "I felt pretty good out there and could take a little bit stronger shots. I did a little bit of battling, too, and it didn't feel too bad."

Salo said he's hoping he can go Wednesday night in Detroit.

"I think that is a reasonable possibility, but you never know how you are going to feel the next day. I feel fairly confident we are going in the right direction and there aren't going to be any setbacks."

EYE'M OKAY: Winger Taylor Pyatt says he will be ready to play Wednesday after suffering a scary left eye injury Monday night when he was clipped by the stick of teammate Mason Raymond late in the first period.

Pyatt did not return and said his vision was blurry for a short time.

"But it's cleared up pretty good already, so I think I'll be fine," Pyatt said.

The red plus sign on the left side of the thread in the thread list certainly is appropriate for this one.

Ryan Shannon had a knee on knee collision in Manitoba...out for a month at least so inspite of Australia's 80s contemporary pop band Crowded House's advice .. the dream is over.

Krajicek has an MRI on his knee... Mad
Cooke and Ohlund missed the last practice; Cooke has some soreness in his knee, while Ohlund has back problems... Rolling Eyes

In the minors, Jozef Balej may be out for the season again. Which is a shame, because he's the Moose's leading scorer and showed a fair bit of flash during preseason.

a couple seasons ago , he was playing well and speared himself in the spleen and knocked himself out for the season.

I think the MRI was on Krajicek's ankle unless they were hiding the knee injury. Hopefuly its his ankle.

Balej...yeah...there's a reason he was traded for garbage like Feds Fedorov. Great AHL player I suppose but not enough heart or drive for the big league. No big loss for the Canucks.

true , I have zero expectations from Balej and Jaffray (whom is also hurt with a wrist injury..and no disrespect for Kylos boy) for the Canucks.. they were/are imortant imo for the developement of Grabner , Hansen , Raymond , Bourdon ,...

Oh, and it gets better! More Nuck-on-Nuck violence, continuing this franchise's proud tradition of players injuring one another in practice:

http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=565e55eb-46a8-4daa-b335-a7dfc8cf0450&k=2024

Mitchell is now out for the Nashville game, thanks to a BXA slapshot.

Somewhere the devil and Mike Weaver are laughing and clinking glasses.
