PREVIEW
VS.
Well, here we go again. I would think the Avs aren't going to change a thing, maybe try and insert Leopold into the lineup, but again I'm not so sure Q should mess with the D, who played well (except for Hannan) for the most part.
Anyway, lines shake out (I think) like this:
Forsberg-Stastny-Hejduk
Wolski-Sakic-Brunette
Smyth-Guite-Laperriere
McLeod-Arnason-Jones
Quenneville did a brilliant job of rolling all four lines and as a result not only was each line effective (and Smyth playing probably his best game yet in an Avs uniform) but they were able to keep up with the much-speedier Wild. Wolski was a revelation last game...I pray he keeps it up.
The only line I know for Minny is the top line of Gaborik-Koivu-Demitra, apart from that I have no idea. I think Rolston and Boogaard are on the same line...can't believe Lemaire has a defensive pairing of Skoula and Nummelin and they actually didn't embarrass themselves.
Okay, it took the Avs everything they had to win last game, that and some unbelievable goaltending from Theo. They have to make sure not to take any stupid penalties and at the same time capitalize on their power plays. Simple enough plan... |

1-0, great goal by Forsberg shooting through traffic.
Was that #39 making a great defensive play in the corner? Who are you and what have you done with Tyler Arnason!? |

Man, Rod Black is calling this game. Thought the Jets were back for a second. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Avs had a good first period, Wylde coming on in the second...Gaborik much more of a force in this game, working out into open ice and taking shots wherever he can instead of letting himself get pinned along the boards down low.
Not quite as much fun as last game but still plenty of hitting and speed. Or maybe it is as much fun, I'm still trying to come down from watching the third of that Caps/Flyers game... |

WOW...Avs were lucky to get away without Minny scoring in that period...
End of 2, still 1-0, but the Wylde get to start the 3rd with about 1:45 of power play and the very nearly scored in the closing seconds of the period. Gaborik had two surefire scoring chances that bounced off goalposts. The Avs had their chances too, but Minnesota was definitely the better tean. And I must say Martin Skoula was just about the best defenseman on the ice...can't believe I friggin' just said that.
I'm positive the Wylde tie it in the opening minutes, Avs need to wake up and play with the kind of desperation that won them game 1.... |

Oh well...helluva game again. This time it's Carney with the OT winner. Series tied 1-1 going back to Colorado.
Avs were down with less than 2 minutes after a goal from yep, Mikko Koivu, and a smart play by JML on the power play to deflect it off of Hejduk and the game is tied. Avs fought hard but we all knew this was gonna be a series. |

That wasn't Carney... off of Rolston's skate in front, and it definitely was an intentional re-direct. I don't think you can see a kicking motion, though. _________________ It's backwards time. |
