Some notes....the WBZ internet feed is easily 2 minutes behind.

The Bruins are obviously not in the same class as the Habs even if the Habs are diving all over the ice without cause.

Julien needs to change the 1-2-2. The speed of the Habs is blowing the doors off of the plodding defensive scheme of the Bruins. If it hasn't worked in 10 games chances are it still isn't going to work.

Bruins are going to need to reach down and grab a hold if they hope to score....or even take a game of this series.

Terrible officiating in the second. Two clear hits from behind and plenty of obstruction from the lumbering Bruins and the refs stay silent. That being said Shane Hnidy and Petteri Nokelainen are on their PP, so it's not like they have much of an advantage.

Boston are barely leading in shots but, how many of them have come from close to the net? They're just sending shots from poor angles and hoping for rebounds, which against Carey Price don't happen often.

How sweet was Kovalev slowing the game down to a crawl on the Kosty goal? I'm sure Clode was yelling on bench for his team to hit Kovy.

I'm agreeing with Razz and E.L. - the officiating has been horrible.

LOL - off the post

Some great D by Boston.... or some tentative PP work by the Habs. Prolly the later - the B's can't be good at anything without the stars aligning.

Now OT - love it.

This is the worst I've seen the Habs play in 3 months.

This is the best I've seen the Bees play in...years.

That being said, the Habs still have a PP to start OT. Markov has been absolutely horrible today. I can't explain it.

His PP work has been pathetic - tentative and poor choices when he eventually makes them.... and it's usually to Streit.

Well, the reffing was lousy all night so it's only fitting the Habs score the winner after a not so hot call. Kovy partially redeems himself after the stupid slashing penalty. Chara and Price were both the big gamers tonight.

That will leave a bad taste with the Bees, but we'll take the 2-0 lead regardless of circumstances.

Well I suppose the only thing I can say is the Refs giveth and the refs taketh away. The Bruins really had no business competing in this one anyway.

Shane Hnidy is a waste of a lineup spot.

Nothing like winning a playoff game with a PPG in OT.... yeesh. the league takes the names off their sweater for anonymity. Then the league proceeds to make them pivotal in almost every game, including the playoffs. I'll take the win - but that game was garbage.

And I wish CBC would ditch Cherry on Montreal games - only Toronto cares what he has to say. Even though Kovy felt there should have been a penalty, his slash was stupid. Reich felt the same thing, but the trip was still stupid too. Deal with it, big boy.

Yep. The officiating was terrible for both teams. if they were going to be so fucking inconsistinet, I would have liked it more if they called nothing.

I wish it would have been called more evenly both ways. I was pulling my hair out screaming for calls all through the second and most of the third. In overtime the calls came, but by then they shouldn't have.

either way I'm happy with the result.

Razz, you can complain all you want and be 1/2 justified, but at the same time it still wont change the fact that the Ruins have dead bear cock in their mouth at this present moment...

Well, the Habs were definitely fortunate. The PP was horrible in all aspects, and the GWG should provide a clue as to how to get going... switch things up, even if it's as simple as having Kovy play the other side. Our PP depends on being unpredictable, giving different looks and finding new passing lanes... the PP stood still and sat with the puck so often...

Give full credit to the B's, they had a game plan and for the most part executed. Though I have to question the wisdom of benching Kessel when you can't win puck battles... you have to get to the puck first... Kessel is one of the few B's with the speed to beat the Habs to pucks.

Exactly. I didn't see the end (I was at baseball), but Claude had this to say:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=234171

I don't think we can beat you anyway, but we certainly can't beat you if the refs are giving you phantom calls. Paul Devorski and Mike Leggo are two of the leagues worst. I'll bet if you look at all the games Devorski has done for us, we are like 1-12. That's no fluke...

At the end of the day, the Habs found a way to get it done, and hats off to them. But 6 minutes SH in OT? That's pretty weak...

Kessel's two way game needs work. Against the Habs, that's a huge problem. That said, I do agree that plucking what little skill we have from the lineup is... curious... sitting back and trying to clog up the Habs flying at us isn't exactly going to work...

One other thing - Chara is very obviously labouring BADLY. Why is it that whenever we make the playoffs, our best player is playing seriously hurt? What is it about the Habs always getting the bounces against us? The latter has been a bugaboo for about 100 years. These things usually even out over time, all other things being equal.

This year the Habs are better, I'll give them that. But when do we get some good luck - ever???

Mad

Bruins sound off:

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/hockey/bruins/view.bg?articleid=1086821&srvc=bruins&position=1

Your team just has SO many cheap, gutless, but talented players. Latendresse and Lapierre pick their fights and are flat out dirty. Ditto Steve Begin. Andrei Markov is a diver and a surgeon with his stick, and I'm still not convinced he was without fault on the Aaron Ward hit earlier this year. Komisarek is prone to extra stuff after the whistle, and Hamrlik has been running around doing nothing but making cheap hits all series. Your team might be a contender, but what a disgrace it is to the game of hockey. No wonder Carbonneau and Muller lead this group - it figures...

At least we won it in the end.

I'm kinda disappointed. Props to Tim Thomas.

Typical Kovalev. He's driving me CRAZY. Rolling Eyes

HOLY SHIT... just checked out the Bruin facebook group. You guys think I'm bad when it comes to ranting about the Habs and the referees... Laughing I got nothing on these guys, and there are a LOT of them coming out of the woodwork to vent. If I were Mike Leggo, I'd stay the hell out of Boston Laughing

But hey, as it should be. Fuck us, we fuck you. Next time don't call Plekanec and Kovalev diving to the ice, unless you're giving them the two...
