No, nothing official yet, and if the rumors are to believed, this will screw that up big-time.

But I second the "Holy shit!" sentiment. And I don't think it's a good move. Nonis continued the tradition of overly conservative Vancouver GMs, but I generally liked his approach. I don't think there was a ton more out there -- a lot of guys underachieved and/or got injured this past year.

This screws up Viño's future too, as every GM change does to a coach.

yah TSN is saying BB is on Aquilins wish list.

stereotypical italian, only wants to deal with what he know and has seen, IE Brian Burke.

It just creates a level of upheaval that wasn't necessary for the summer. Now the challenge goes from plugging holes with all this cap space to fitting in, learning the organization (unless it's Tamby), etc.

I genuinely liked Nonis as GM... really don't like this move. Now this idiotic sense of panic so typical to Vancouver has set in. The organization had a disappointing year, this is nothing like the Steve Bellringer days.

Personally,
I believe this is actually the right move.I don't understand why so many Canuck fans are o.k. with missing the playoffs 2 out 3 years.Nonis is responsible for that happening. He did not address the needs of the team up front 2 seasons in a row & the team failed to make the playoffs.
This was the correct move hopefully Tambellini will get the job!!!

I was still on the bandwagon till his failure at the deadline to improve the team.Even then I said make the playoffs that's what it's all about.
The myriad of excuses should all be ignored & the results should dictate his fate & that is exactly what has happened.

For me I was ok with his resume thus far caz 2006 I dont hold it against him. 06 was the players choke , Crow's choke.. Nonis did his job that year. The players and coaches failed for me. Plus he did the neccessary shake up for failing that season.

it sucks that 07 and 08 were backwards caz I was prepared to miss last season and then maybe start the push now. YOu know what i mean.. and because of last year's succes I honestly believe Nonis felt handcuffed to that squad. If he missed last year , he might've made some trades and continue the rebuild/reload.

but hey, we all knew nobody was safe.. Im shocked yet I shouldnt be.

If they hire Burke I'll be sick.
BB is the most overhyped & over rated gm in the history of the NHL.
I'd rather have Bobby Clarke & Milbury as co gm's than to have to put up with Brian " I'll drive em to the airport" Burke for any length of time.
