Minnesota won the battle in the Northwest, but are they ready for the war? Down Schultz and Foster, they have to make full use of their 6 remaining defenders, as there is no one in the AHL right now that they feel that confident with. So frequent scratches such as Carney, Nummelin, and Hill will have to play significant minutes. And also Martin Skoula, which can't be a good thing at all.

Meanwhile, Colorado went through a lot of injury problems, and got some good reinforcements at the deadline to compliment the emergence of some other players as well. Plus, they finally got a good goalie, as Theodore completely rebuilt his game and while he's not fully back at his old dominant self, he's much more confident and consistent than he's been since the lockout.

With Quennville vs. Lemaire, expect some good battles on the boards. Minnesota will try and intimidate the Avalanche and may take a few runs at their skilled guys. Having Foote back should be a huge benefit in this series for the Avs.

If Minnesota loses here, some hard decisions will be made about a lot of players, notably Rolston & Demitra. The Avs don't have a lot of years left in a lot of their players, so they will be similarly motivated for another run.

As I said in the G1 thread in the Minny forum, the Avs have their work cut out for them. They'll have to penetrate a very good Wild PK in order to win, and, well, their struggles on the power play have been well-documented.

If we win this, it'll likely be highway robbery on account of stellar defense and Theo's goaltending. I just don't see any other way we can do it.

So now it's 2-2 going into game 5 in Minny tomorrow night. Again I give the refs credit, they kept relative control of the game when it was dangerously close to getting out of hand on several occasions.

Stephane Veilleux is morally bankrupt scum.

And I'm not saying the Avs are by any means innocent of this, but hoo-boy can the Wylde let the sticks fly. You'd have thought Brian Rolston was a lumberjack with the way he was flailing last night.

Nice to see last night that Martin Skoula is perfectly capable of playing down to his usual standards, even Lemaire said so after the game. For a while during the series I almost didn't recognize him. Laughing

I don't expect to see anything like the score we saw last night in any of the remaining games...as everyone rightly predicted it's gonna be a series, now guaranteed to be at least 6 games.

Can't say I didn't warn you. Laughing

Veilleux is a Habs fan?

Good point, Sask.

Av, Veilleux is merely morally insolvent at this stage. He won't file for moral bankruptcy until Le journal de Montréal links him to the Habs this summer.

Laughing

Point taken, Veilleux is merely a morally insolvent punk-ass then...

Has anyone noticed if Thoedore's hair is looking really good these days?

As free-flowing as ever! Laughing

Theo's hair and the rest of the Avs advance past scoreless Gaborik and the Wylde.

As stated in the postgame thread I'm fairly confident next round will yield a Detroit matchup, unless the Sharks fail to get it done.
