An Alabama/Beatles comparison being dropped in an attempt to be "edgy" is the height of hilarity. |

But he thinks it makes him different. He wants, no, needs to prove he is an individual so bad it causes him to make stupid statements that he is forced to stand behind or else some one will catch him lying.
Need proof?

Got some tickets today to see Billy Bragg in Toronto in june and I am pretty excited at that I must admit. Funny part is Facebook told me about it and I'd likely of never heard about it in time otherwise. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

| I got tickets last week for REM at the amphitheatre - and a friend just asked if I wanted to go see Allison Krause and Robert Plant. That album they put out together is really quite good, so I think I will go. Plus, the amphitheatre is such a great venue for seeing live music! |

I think I'll get tickets to see the Police on May 1.
This is Ottawa -- you can say things like that on April 16. _________________

Patty, did you see the lineup for the first-ever Montreal Heavy MTL fest?
Iron Maiden
Motley Crue
Anthrax
Mastodon
Hatebreed
Type O Negative
Three Inches of Blood
Priestess
Hammerfall
Dethklok (Hell yes)
Overkill
and a few others.
http://www.heavymtl.com/en/lineup
It's on June 21-22.
Sounds like it might be up your alley. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

Dethklok? Like the guys who made the soundtrack CD?
That lineup looks fucking impressive EL. I think I like the first day a little better though....Shadows Fall and Anthrax are cool shit, but Three Days Grace just doesn't fit with the rest.
I can't believe there aren't more local bands playing...Montreal has a pretty decent metal scene, or so I've heard. |

May 1 is here... going tonight! (But shhh... as you're not really supposed to listen to live music this time of year in Judaism).
This is the kickoff date for a new tour, so I don't know what their setlist will be, but they look to have kept to a relatively constant 3/4-greatest-hits-to-1/4 others pattern of the same songs on their other tours. I'd prefer more of the latter, but what can you do.
Can't imagine the 300-level of Scotiabank place will be the best place to watch, but it'll be an experience. Andy Summers is freaking 66! _________________

Sadly in the fall when I saw them it was showing. Though the guitar sounded fine, the left side of the stage where he was standing just seemed like a black hole for energy to go and get sucked out of the arena. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

I noticed that too, but the seats we saw them at in Pepsi Center were behind the stage, where we saw Stuart most of the time and Sting whenever he decided to strut around to the back and acknowledge us (which was often enough), Andy was as far from us as possible. I guess given that we could only hear him and barely see him, that's a good thing. |

The concert was fun, but I'd obviously never recommend Scotiabank Place as a music venue. Predictably echoey, somewhat lifeless (no one really even got up until the encore), and the stage was set up at one end rather than in the middle. Had we stayed in our real seats, we would have seen very little while Elvis Costello was on, as his screens were only on the sides, and we were about as far from him as you could get. The Police at least had a screen behind them.
The setlist wasn't very changed from their other reunion tours (unfortunately they dropped one of my favorites, "Truth Hits Everybody" and opened with "Bring on the Night" and "Demolition Man").
I was initially impressed with the number of non-Greatest Hits they started the show off with, before realizing they all had a common thread: they're ones Sting already had a history of playing live during his solo career, and appear on his "Bring on the Night" live album, for example (Bring on the Night, Driven to Tears, When the World is Running Down, Demolition Man).
The crowd seemed to give Stewart Copeland the biggest reactions, which I liked. He's the youngest of the group but easily looks the oldest. Andy Summers may have manufactured some cosmetic youth with some bright red skater shoes.
I didn't see the same lack of energy on his part that Hounsy did, at least in relative terms (if you watch footage of their early concerts on Youtube, he always moved around less than the other two). I think he's actually considerably better as a guitarist than he was in their early years.
One thing that's interesting is that they've kept their live 'schtick' pretty constant from their late '70s/early '80s concerts days... the same modifications of studio versions are there (like inserting the Reggatta de Blanc bridge into the middle of "Can't Stand Losing You," vocal variations, etc.), so it all sounded surprisingly familiar!
Sting talked with the crowd a few times between songs, but because of the echo, I don't have a freaking clue what he said beyiond the word "fuck" from time to time. _________________

Oh my god.
I am going to see Ministry - the CU Later Final World Tour at the Koolhaus on Sunday night!
I am so freakin excited. Beyond words. Just to date myself, I saw their very first ever world tour 18 years ago at Carleton University's concert hall which fit about 1500 people.
And they blew my head off.
I can't wait to get blown again...

Well, finally bought my final ticket for the 3rd straight Sasquatch! Festival I've gone to. I wasn't going to go this year until the lineup got announced and my boys, the Flaming Lips, came back to headline one of the nights with their UFO show, as well as debut their movie, Christmas On Mars, the night before their performance. Plus, the Saturday bill is just stacked:
R.E.M. and Modest Mouse headline, with M.I.A., The New Pornographers, The National, Ozomatli, Beirut, The Breeders... ridiculous lineup.
Here it is: http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/2008/main.php?page=lineup
3 days of camping and some of the best music on the planet in a picture perfect setting. It doesn't get better than that.
Gotta look into tickets for the Red Sox/Mariners series just after the festival as well when me and my friends hit up Seattle. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. CUT COPY
One of the best shows/parties I've ever experienced. Dancing the fucking night away. When they closed the set with "Saturdays," I very nearly shat my pants. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry
