Well, if you're bombing around in a Firebird and a Cherokee on minimum wage, it's gonna be tight no matter what. Still, that's a brutal percentage of your paycheck to pump away...

The bigger story is that there are auto parts workers making $7 an hour in the US. That's ridiculous.

I've worked in a Magna plant...given the skills that the job requires, it's not that ridiculous Laughing

Where it's ridiculous is that if they are able to pay workers that in the states, how can parts makers survive in Canada paying workers what they do Confused

1.35 here. At some point in 2008 we'll hit 1.50 and never look back.

Hard to believe my first real job was pumping gas back in 2000 and people were bitching when gas hit 70 cents.

Went with my dad yesterday so he could fill up his Ford F-150. Cost nearly $70 to fill it up. Un-fecking-real.

I was living in Ottawa in the summer of '96 when a gas price war was going on..... 39 cents a litre....

Dude, it cost me $47 to fill up my little 1999 Corolla this morning. It would've been solidly over $50 if I let it go pretty much dry (I had about 3/16 of a tank still in it). $70 for pretty much any truck is pretty good.

Same thing with my 2002 Sentra.

Think $70 is expensive to fill? My parents have a 1990 Chev Beauville full size van with a 125-litre tank. I was driving it 30km to and from work every day during the summer when gas hit $1.27/litre. Luckily, I threw in $60 worth right before it went up so high and it lasted until the price went back down. Putting in 60 bucks in gas and not even seeing the needle go to half a tank.... Not much fun Laughing :Chris18:

$1.20 makes me a lot less angry than I was that summer, thanks to having my Sentra now and not having to drive to work Laughing

On the plus side, the Koreans are selling cars super cheap right now here. The Canada/Korea currency exchange rate is heavily favouring the CDN dollar right now. Buy a cheap Korean commuter car and save tons on gas money.
