We start with the Vezina:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=235376&lid=sublink01&lpos=headlines_main

Brodeur, Nabokov, and Lundqvist are the three finalists.

Brodeur will win it again. Nabby had the better team and didn't post ridiculous numbers aside from his wins and games played.

Lundqvist should win just because it is embarrassing to give awards to a fatso in a pro league and no one east of the Rockies sees Nabakov thus killing any legit claim he thought he may have.

Lidstrom, Chara, and Phaneuf are up for the Norris.

Biased but I think Nabby should win. He had a good team in front of him but that team played like shit most of the season and won because of him. Nabby was far and away the MVP of the Sharks and I'm sure Brodeur was MVP of the Devils, but the Sharks did better than the Devils so IMO Nabby > Brodeur. Nabby should also get strong consideration for the Hart. But like Hounsy said because of location I don't think anyone will appreciate how important Nabby was to the Sharks, so I'd be really surprised if he won anything. Lundqvist is great but by his own admission he underperformed in the first half.

Lids for the Norris, he's just too good to give it to anyone else. What was Detroit's record when he was injured? That is an actual question, not support of him as a pick.

Underperforming by his own admission or not, Lundqvist was reason #1 the Rangers were the best defensive team in hockey this season. And while NY's blueline corps is a bit underappreciated, they're certainly nothing elite by any stretch, nor are they blessed with a slew of two-way grinders up front. It's either him or Brodeur for me, Nabby certainly deserves consideration, but IMO not the win.

Agreed on the Norris though. Lidstrom all the way, and I'm certainly not biased toward him in the slightest.

My vote goes to Marty. The Devils would have been lottery pick contenders without him.

Lou Lams gutted that roster and the guys who were left were pathetic underachievers - especially on defence.

Chara would get my vote if his recent playoff performance counted. He might get it anyway, he does things no other player can and rarely had the luxury of a decent defence partner. At his best he's their 30-min shutdown guy, their most dangerous offensive weapon, a PP quarterback, their best hitter, and simply impossible to beat 1-on-1.

I think they won like 1 out of 6 games.

Best offensive defenseman, best defensive defenseman. First on the PP, first on the PK, pretty much never in the box. Always near or at the top in IT, always against the top competition. I'd love to see him get it in a complete sweep of first place votes this year.

Thomas fell off, likely due to fatigue. Whatever the reason, he's properly absent from the list.

Chara really should get it, based on his season. Lidstrom is probably the better overall player year to year, but Chara really brought it, and with Dennis Wideman, improved as he is, as his partner... Frankly, either could quite properly get it...

Calder finalists, and no, Price isn't one of them.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=235570&lid=headline&lpos=topStory_main

Kane, Toews, and Backstrom.

They should include on the Calder & Hart Trophy Descriptions:

"Defensemen and Goaltenders need not apply"

Think about it this way, dude, it's probably best that a promising rookie goaltender with "Carey" in his name not even be in position to win the Calder, seeing as how the last guy turned out.

I'd have replace Toews with Price myself but guess the games played made the difference. That said 44 games for a goalie is around the same as the 64 for Toews.

Pronger, Hasek, Theodore, Brodeur, Jackman, Raycroft, Nabokov, Berard...

I dare say that's not right at all. Though I still maintain that goalies shouldn't be eligible for the Hart -- every goalie is the most valuable player to his team.
