Well there was no magic tonight. It was an excellent team effort from the Habs and the better team won. B's you exceeded all of my expectations this year and you played with the best thing of all........heart. I appreciate watching you this year and I look forward to next year. Thanks from a fan for life. _________________ "Don't think (Stay)

I'm not the type to admit it during the middle of the playoffs, but it's pretty obvious that this series could've gone either way. And while I try and keep things from a Montreal perspective in my writings here, I knew the B's were better than what they had showed vs. the Habs in the regular season. I'm not surprised by the result of a 7 game series, more disappointed by how it unfolded from a Habs perspective (going to Game 7 when they were up 3-1).
The B's have heart, no question, but they have a lot of underappreciated and still not fully realized skill. Kessel, Lucic, and Krejci are the future, and when you add Bergeron back to the mix, with already established elements like Savard and Chara (and hell even Wideman), it shows this team is on the right track. If I were in charge of the B's, I wouldn't change much for next year, if anything. And then when Rask comes along, man... they're really scary and can definitely beat anyone. _________________ It's backwards time. |

I see Montreal, Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh and Washington being the top teams in the East for the next few years... |

Well, the 1st period certainly wasn't uninspired, although it was frustrating
From the 2nd on, the Habs squeezed the life out of the Bruins, the way I thought they would earlier in the series
The Bruins actually did look tired and frustrated after the 1st, and did little to help their chances of staying in the game. _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

I will admit while I did say I agreed somewhat with some of Sinden's characterizations, it's hard to argue that Marc Savard has actually been one of the few big-money FA acquisitions actually earning his keep.
Chara? Sorry...still not convinced. Especially after the game I just saw.
But yes, this team has speed, it has skill, it has youth, it has grit. Simply jettison the dead weight (i.e. MURRAY) and this team could go places. Give credit where credit is due, the Bruins did indeed come to play when no one gave them a chance. |

| Chara earned his money in the regular season. He must be injured in some way; if not, then yeah, I'd question what happened in the playoffs... |

Cracked or broken ribs for Murray too. Didn't have an effect on the series, but the league has to crack down, pardon the pun, on the Hab diving (it's coached so it's not just one guy), cheating (yes you Tomas Plekanec and your foot trick on faceoffs) and dirty play (hello Mike Komisarek and your hits a second after the whistle has gone). How Hamrlik's hit goes unnoticed by the zebras, yet random taps, both ways, get called, is beyond me.
The penalty on Markov early on was laughable - he was trying to pick up his stick for chrissakes not trip the Bruin - and the penalties on the third and fourth Hab goals were similarly weak. Overall the officiating in the playoffs has been inconsistent and feeble. And although it didn't affect the series, I'm sick and tired of the Bruins getting the short end of questionable calls. It's good to finally see some of the Boston sports media bitching about it; perhaps Jacobs will do something constructive during his time as chairman of the board... |

The Bruins have a lot to be proud of this year. Chara bounced back nicely from a disappointing campaign last year. They battled through tons of injuries. I almost feel like losing Fernandez was a boon for this team because of Thomas' competitiveness. I don't know much about Manny in that sense, but Thomas looks like he absolutely hates to let in goals. Yeah, yeah, most goalies do, but the guy looks so competitive all the time on the ice and it looks like it rubs off on his teammates. Perhaps having Manny healthy will give Thomas some needed rest next year.
I liked the Savard signing when it happened, and it's turned out better than most, including the Bruins, had expected, I think. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Good job Bruins! The rest of the league will definitely take notice of this team. The future looks bright. _________________

Scary thing is, as one columnist aptly pointed out, had Bergeron played, Montreal might be sitting at home in a city vandalism-free.
I really do hope he gets better. I do so hate to see great young talent like that taken out too early, no matter what jersey that team wears. |

Thank you for your kind words. As for Rass, it's like I told you last night: Only when Jaccobs manages to stop being so damn cheap and start paying off all levels of the nhl head offices, the reffs, their wives and their secretaries, will calls ever go the bruins way.
Simple as that.
We cheated and won. Thanks for being graceful in defeat harmy. _________________ The crowd once again showed its IQ level when it shouted ``U-S-A, U-S-A,'' during the fight. Their hero, Downie, is from Newmarket, Ont. |

Certainly not a prob Stink. Thank you to everyone who chose to post with class and dignity. I won't tolerate the defiling of this thread however. There is no dishonor in losing to the Habs. There is no dishonor in making the playoffs and competing with heart. Here's to next year...... _________________ "Don't think (Stay)

Nothing but the thread was making a left turn at Razzdom and I was heading it off. _________________ "Don't think (Stay)
