http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/04/30/halak_start/

Halak is in. It's a strange (read: bad) choice, but not because Halak can't handle it - he's a starter calibre goaltender.

I'm out the door in five minutes so here are two canned responses depending on the outcome:

We win! Halak was amazing and the Habs PP finally woke up. We also had a strong first period and scored on a few rebounds against a very human Martin Biron. I think this game was a major turning point in the series.

We lose! Refs cheated, Downie cheated, Biron cheated, Biron's posts cheated, Stevens cheated, Hatcher cheated, Lupul cheated, that stupid curly haired ginger kid that always cross checks people cheated, the memories of Roman Cechmanek and Jiri Dopita cheated, Pelle Eklund cheated, Propp cheated, Sinisalo cheated, Hextall cheated, McNabb cheated.

That period was exactly the same as Monday's first period. :chris18:

Ugh. If Carbo is panicking with Halak, then I'm panicking as well. I've flipped out more than a few times. The Flyers almost caught another ridiculous break on a bounce... centering pass off a sprawling Komisarek's skate and hitting the post. And we have 2 power plays that get some shots through, but don't really make Biron work.

The lack of execution is just killing us right now.

The series isn't over but it might as well be. Habs lack grit and enough of a bush league mean streak to finish off plays. I'm so fucking frustrated right now. Though a more skilled team, the Habs still don't have enough skill to just fucking finish a play. Jason Smith has been great for the fliers as has the hamburguler.

Habs aren't scoring because they just cant seem to get to the loose pucks in front of biron.

that's a toughness issue.

habs d are backing too far into their zone and setting up nice screans - that's toughness and a fear of the grity philly forwards.

having said all that, I think the series between the flyboys and the pens will be a quick one... perhaps not but hey... I'm just sore right now.

EL wins points for a reference to Ilkka Sinisalo -- the one card that everyone who collected Pro Set in 1991 had in quintuplicate.

Carbo won't say it, but I will: Steve Bégin is a fucking idiot.

As that ginger kid Mick Hucknall once said, "If you don't know how to score by now, you'll never never never know how."

Mick Hucknall is an ugly troll and has dated some of the most beautiful women on earth. This man's word is gospel.

All thing considered though, it was another game where we dominated on paper but ultimately did ourselves in by not scoring early. A phantom call in the third is the only reason we're one game from golfing. Flyers needed a similar call to beat the Caps, who came back to eventually push the Flyboys to the brink.

I still think we can win.

It's possible but when was the last time a team was down 3-1 in a seven game series and won?

Thought so... Smile

But what's critically missing here is Razz' guarantee that Montreal had absolutely, positively, no chance in hell of advancing. I seem to recall him saying something about, "... Kindly stepping up to the podium, inserting their collective heads in a vice, and prepare to have the life squeezed out of their heads..." or something to that effect.

This does not bode well for Montreal.

Hey... only three of the above stated facts are true and I resent the added falsehood.

There is, absolutely, postiively, no way Montreal survives this weekend.
