| Trading for Heatley would merely turn you into the next version of the Atlanta Thrashers...enn-oh. |

I agree... Schneider needs another full year in the AHL before he'll be ready, I think. Isn't Luongo signed for at least two more years? I think a lot depends on what happens this offseason and next season; unless the Canucks make some headway and really improve the talent level, Luongo will want to move on (and deservedly so). I like Heatley, but as Mr.P. will tell you, he's a left-shooting LW, and we've have plenty of those auditioning on the Sedins right already. I think I'd prefer to take a chance on a Michael Ryder, or even Ryan Malone (another leftie), since he won't cost as much.

But according to the owner, winning is what matters... Nevermind that they may not be able to do it in the postseason. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

From a guy on HFBoards:

Anyone else listening to the highlight reel?
Jeff Leyland is saying that not only has Demitra been in Vancouver the last few days and seen around the city, that he has been telling people that he will be a Vancouver Canuck next season...
Apparently Naslund (they are both former Gillis clients) is giving him a tour.
I thought he was joking at first but he was in fact serious (or an unbelievably good actor). Anyone else hear this?

Pratt predicts Tamby will be named by end of the month. I disagree with that if they wanted Tamby he would've been named already , he was barely given a strong endorsement as interim GM. you get the feeling the new GM will get the green light to clean house. |
I'm gonna predict Gillis |

One thing to note, of course, is that if there's any truth to the rumor, then Demitra is either an idiot killing his bargaining position (making unilateral declarations even before he hits free agency), or the Canucks are tampering.
Which is why I assume it's not true, unless an entirely private conversation somehow got out. _________________

Yeah I saw that a couple of days ago on HF... It never made much sense to me either. Although I have to admit, I wouldn't mind seeing Demitra in here - it would continue the recent Canuck tradition of picking up Minnesota's UFAs. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.
