Guessing the number of games has become silly. Occasionally I get lucky on the series length but that is it. I did 5 out of 8 of the teams moving on correct in the first round, thus, a series winner but series length predictions for the second round.

East

Montreal over Philadephia
Pittsburgh over NY Rangers

West
Detroit over Colorado
Dallas over San Jose

5/8 with the winners, only one sweep.

Next up in the tool pool:

Pitts in 4 over the Rags.

Mon in 4 over Philly

Det in 4 over Dive

No idea who in Dal vs SJ. I'll say Dal in 4.

Looks like your sweeps could be closer to the truth, after all! (except for Phily)

Apparently you're not getting the ongoing joke on this board about the Habs and their alleged penchant for diving...

2-2 in Round 2. Got the West right. Mad

Round 3, ladies and gentlemen, is usually home to the best hockey of the year. The teams can start to smell the Cup, but they know their opponent very well, unlike in the Stanley Cup Finals. They hate each other, and they know full well what is at stake.

Detroit and Dallas. These two teams are playing some unreal hockey, led by some unreal performances. Detroit has shown to be vulnerable when faced with a hot goalie in the Nashville series, and there has been no goalie better than Turco these playoffs. Unlike Nashville, though, Dallas presents a myriad of problems offensively, starting with a possessed captain named Brenden Morrow, anchoring a top line with the formidable Ribeiro and Lehtinen. Richards and Modano centre the second and third lines, leaving little breathing room. On D, Zubov and Robidas lead the charge, as Dallas ices a 7 man group behind them with 3 rookies in the mix.

Is it enough to pull off the upset? Consider Detroit: the best defensive team all season, led by the best defencemen since Numbah Fowah, and an even more impressive ensemble of forwards than Dallas... Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen leading the charge. Osgood hasn't lost a game since taking over from Hasek, as well.

The sentimental side of me picks Dallas for Morrow. The greedy side of me picks Detroit since I have 5 guys on their team in my playoff pool. Greed always wins. I'd say Detroit in 6, but Morrow and Turco will push this the distance. Detroit in 7.

Pittsburgh vs. Philly. I've only seen Pennsylvania through a car window (and it was Philly), so I have no emotional attachment to this series whatsoever. I don't like either team. Will I watch? I might throw stuff at the screen every time Umberger touches the puck. I might cry if Jarkko Ruutu scores a goal. I expect both goalies to eventually melt down. One is going down this series. And I have determined which one.

Cindarella wears a red track suit and trainers. Just waiting for the Liberty Bell to ring at midnight. Flyers in 6.

It's 1997 all over again.

In the long tradition of the SCF containing the teams I am least interested in seeing winning, Philly over Pitts in 5, Dallas over Detroit in 7

I've picked the Pens and Wings each round, and they've won each round

I've picked AGAINST the Flyers and Stars each round, and....

Something's gotta give........

I'm sticking with the Red Wings and Penguins
