Well, I'm kind of sad to see it happen, but admittedly I think it had to. Q's maddening tendencies and inability to change his style when it clearly wasn't working, and it's clear he pissed off one too many players.
Now of course this damn well better result in a COMPLETE sweep behind the bench. I want Cloutier and Granato gone too. Only guy I want to see back coaching next year is Jeff Hackett.
Rumor has it Pat Burns is healthy and rarin' for another shot. I'm a little lukewarm on the idea, hopefully it's someone new.
And technically it wasn't a firing. Q wasn't under contract and the Avs simply didn't offer a new one.
I'm betting Q lands in Toronto sooner rather than later. |

Pat Burns? What a mistake for this franchise.
IMO Q is the only reason the Avs have performed in the past few years. He rung every ounce out of this hodge podge bunch......AHL D-Men......Overthehill superstars.........underperforming goalies.......Letting Q go may have been necessary but Pat Burns as the answer? Won't be long before the truth is exposed.............Lacroix milked this old cow for all he could before he left. _________________ "Don't think (Stay)

Pat Burns should be brought in for a more established team. Q had to go because, well, the Avs are rebuilding now. The aged core can't lead the team anymore, it has to be a new generation to take over the reigns of this club.
That's why St. Patrick makes sense. _________________ It's backwards time. |

| The Post reports that with Roy no longer under consideration, the Avs are expected to continue looking at potential candidates such as Portland (Maine) Pirates coach Kevin Dineen and Detroit Red Wings assistant Todd McLelland, with Pat Burns and Ron Wilson also out there as more experienced candidates. |
