The NHL wants Detroit-Pittsburgh, that's pretty freaking obvious right now.

I think that I'm done watching hockey this season. I saw a great ending to Canadian Junior A Championship and I think I'll leave it at that. I can't be interested in games so poorly officiated between teams I have no affection for.

There needs to be a summit or something to change the way games are called. This phantom shit needs to go, and the game needs to be consistently called from start to finish. In game management needs to become a priority.

I don't know how the NHL can manage to screw up games featuring this much talent on both sides, but they have.

Sorry, couldn't resist....everyone jumps on Razz when he jumps on the refs, warranted or not...

I didn't see the whole game, but from what I did see, Pittsburgh was dominating

I did see one penalty (committed against Malkin) that I thought was a weak call...he was called for hooking Malkin, if anything it would be holding in the most post-lockout sense of the term...in other words, good defense

I am assuming you refer to the Hatcher penalty that turned the game......the jokers at VS went on and on about this......I agree it was a holding call and not a hooking call....He had his stick in between Malkin's legs....it was obvious obstruction that needed to be called just not called hooking.

It should have been 2 minutes for being a Dinosaur Hatcher....all jokes aside that D was tired last night so It didn't surprise me they were cheating a bit.

Pittsburgh is this good.......I think we are seeing just how much better the Pens and the Wings are than the rest of the league.

Oh...and Upshall was running people all night and generally being a pain in the ass. The Flyers played well but the Pens are just better....losing Coburn is going to hurt.

Gary Roberts Rules!

Detroit's on another level entirely. I'm predicting a Red Wings sweep in the Final.

Hatcher was just taking his man, IMO. He had position, and didn't let Malkin take his space. He closed the gap, took the body, and not the puck. It was good defence.

Also, Briere's "goaltender interference" was a lark as well. Briere is getting held up behind the net without the puck, and Orpik keeps on him until Briere is just starting to get away and gives him one last shot into Fleury. That should've been a Penguin penalty about 5 seconds before Fleury went down.

Hal Gill had himself draped over Flyers for the entire 3rd period and didn't get called. I also saw a ton of hooks that generally get called let go, about 80% by Pittsburgh.

We had one mistake that cost us the game. We get the last change this team so hopefully Briere gets away from the shutdown pair and he starts to come on. The fans will get the team going and the calls will hopefully go our way now. I don't think it's over but if we lose tomorrow night, it will be. If Coburn can't play, it will be tough. Hopefully Parent or/and Guenin get a shot to help us out on defense. I'd dress 7 d-men because Hatch can't handle all of that time.

Great news, Coburn is doubtful... Sad

Monday, May 12

2:17 p.m.
Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren updated the condition of defenseman Braydon Coburn on Monday from the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone. Coburn left Sunday’s Game 2 in Pittsburgh with a facial injury less than two minutes into the contest, and did not return. He was hit with a deflected puck.

“We’re still waiting to hear word on how his eye actually is. Right now, it’s swollen shut, there are no fractures and he’s doing better,” said Holmgren. “We have no reason to think that there’s anything wrong with the eye itself.

“Last night our doctors who were at the game thought he was fine, but we just wanted him to get checked out by an actual ophthalmologist. Assuming there are no issues there, we’ll just wait for the swelling to go down.

“I would say for the game tomorrow, he’s probably doubtful.”

Holmgren explained that Coburn did not feel well on the flight back to Philadelphia late last night, but that there is no reason to believe the defenseman suffered anything further.

“He had no loss of consciousness. At the time he was cognizant and aware when [Flyers trainer Jim McCrossin] got to him. He did have some issues on the plane last night but I think everybody thinks it was due to loss of blood. He lost a lot of blood from that injury.”

“Everything checks out, we’re just waiting to hear from the ophthalmologist on the actual eye itself, whether there’s any issues there. We don’t suspect there is, we just want to get it checked out.”

Ouch, that's tough. Weren't Coburn and Timmonen partners for most of the season?

Did Hatcher get hit in the head/face by the puck on the play that was ruled no goal? He might have escaped lucky too...

A puck to hatcher's face hurts nobody.

After last season, no one expected this team to be playing into mid May at all. I know I didn't. I know most fans and critics didn't have this team making the playoffs or just barely getting in. It sucks to see yet another chance at the Cup go down the drain but it's not as upsetting as 2004 was. This is only 1 year that all these guys have been playing together, since we brought so many new guys here. I think it can only get better from here. Homer has to see that the Flyers need puck moving defensemen back there.

We have a good future in front of us.

Hopefully, the Flyers watched the Stars effort last night and give a similar one tonight. That's all I ask for. Still no Coburn tonight. Come on boys, no sweep on home ice.

It will be so nice to see hatcher's career end.

I hope Laraque gets his big bad mitts on upshit's scrawny little neck.

That and next time someone from philly tries a douch bag hit like upcock or jones at the end of the game, rutu should send richards in for knee surgery.

One game at a time, that's all they can do. We'll see what happens on Sunday. I loved the end now that I think about it. If the Pens want payback, the Flyers will score goals on the PP again because of stupid penalties.

Help may be on the way:

Timonen to skate Friday
(Philadelphia, PA) – Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who has missed the last four games against Pittsburgh with a blood clot in his left foot, could return on Sunday when the Flyers and Penguins play Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Mellon Arena (3:00 p.m., NBC).

Timonen explained his situation following the Flyers’ 4-2 win on Thursday night.

“I’m going to skate tomorrow. I met the [Dr. Ronald Fairman] today and we took another ultrasound. Based on that, the doctor said I have a green light to give it a try. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to skate [Friday] and see how it feels.
