Updated for off-season mode. I'll probably have a few more adjustments to make. Note that the section for Players under Contract shows their salary cap hit for next year, while the free agent sections show their salaries made last season.
Qualifying offers go as follows: 110% for any player making less than $660,000; 105% of last year's salary for any player making between $660,000 up to $1m; and 100% of last year's salary for any player making $1m or more.
So for the Canadiens, as of the end of the postseason, only Grabovski is scheduled a 5% raise for a qualifying offer, while every other potential RFA will need to be given a 10% raise to be qualified. Note that while Andrei Kostitsyn's cap hit was over $700,000, his actual salary in his final year was much lower, so he qualifies for a 10% raise as a result. Perezhogin and Benoit have already been qualified from last year and remain as unsigned RFA's for this off-season.
From my understanding of the CBA, all of the classifications are correct, though the term "Group 1 RFA" may be antiquated from the previous CBA but I'll still use it to describe those draft picks who must be signed by June 1 or else re-enter the entry draft.
As players re-sign/new players arrive, I will adjust the "cap roster" to be more in line. Right now I'm using a simple definition of having a contract signed, since as of right now, we do have 21 roster players signed through next year counting those who served as "black aces" for the playoffs. _________________ "Oh my God. Montreal signs C Ryan White (66th overall, 2006) to a 3 year entry level contract. Terms of the deal are not disclosed, but it is likely that the combination of his salary and signing bonuses will make for a cap hit of $850,000 per season if he makes the NHL. _________________ "Oh my God. Montreal re-signs C Maxim Lapierre to a 2 year, $1.375m contract. He will be paid $575,000 for 2008-09 and $800,000 in 2009-10, for a cap hit of $687,500 for the duration.
Montreal did not come to terms with D Cameron Cepek (199th overall, 2006 draft) by the June 1 deadline and so he will re-enter the draft. If he is not selected, he will become an unrestricted free agent. The Canadiens have lost their exclusive rights to him. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Montreal acquires LW Alex Tanguay and the 138th overall pick in 2008 from Calgary for the 25th overall draft pick in 2008 and a 2nd round draft pick in 2009.
Montreal acquires the negotiating rights to C Mats Sundin from the Toronto Maple Leafs for future considerations. The return is contingent on the Canadiens being able to sign Sundin, and has not been made public.
Following is Montreal's 2008 Draft Class:
RW Danny Kristo (56th overall)
RW Steve Quailer (86th overall)
G Jason Missiaen (116th overall)
C Maxim Trunev (138th overall)
C Patrick Johnson (206th overall) _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Montreal extends qualifying offers to LW Andrei Kostitsyn, C Mikhail Grabovski, D Ryan O'Byrne, D Marvin Degon, LW Janne Lahti, G Jaroslav Halak, D Josh Gorges, and C/LW Corey Locke. The team does not extend a qualifying offer to LW Jimmy Bonneau, and he becomes a UFA.
Montreal re-signs LW Andrei Kostitsyn to a 3 year, $9.75m contract.
UFA RW Michael Ryder signs a 3 year, $12m contract with the Boston Bruins. UFA D/LW Mark Streit signs a 5 year, $21.5m contract with the New York Islanders.
The team's current projected cap hit is $48 509 634 for 22 players, with only one goaltender position open. The salary cap is $56 700 000, leaving the Canadiens with nearly $8.2m in cap space.
The long pending trade with Phoenix of C Cory Urquhart for C Olivier Latendresse became official sometime before July 1. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Montreal trades C Mikhail Grabovski to Toronto in exchange for D Greg Pateryn (128th overall, 2007) and Toronto's 2nd round draft pick in 2010. This is likely part of the "future considerations" in the Sundin rights deal.
Montreal also signs UFA D Alex Henry to a 1 year, 2 way contract, and UFA G Cedric Desjardins to a 2 year entry level contract. Desjardins had been in the system unofficially for the past 2 years, as he had a professional contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.
UFA G Yann Danis signs a 1 year, $550,000 deal with the NY Islanders. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Some catchup here:
Montreal re-signs G Jaroslav Halak to a 2 year, $1.55m contract.
Montreal re-signs D Josh Gorges to a 3 year, $3.3m contract.
Montreal signs UFA RW Ryan Flinn to a 1 year, 2 way contract.
Montreal acquires D Shawn Belle from Minnesota in exchange for C/LW Corey Locke. Belle is currently an unsigned RFA.
And obviously most importantly, RW Georges Laraque will be wearing #17. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Montreal re-signs D Ryan O'Byrne to a 3 year, $2.825m contract. They also signed RFA D Shawn Belle and signed UFA RW Mike Glumac to one year, two-way contracts.
The Habs now have 40 players under contract and every RFA is committed to a team except for minor league defensemen Marvin Degon, and only likely one unsigned prospect that will be signed for this next season (Yannick Weber), possibly two (maybe Max Paccioretty). I'll be changing this back to a depth chart format sometime soon as a result. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Montreal signs LW Max Pacioretty (22nd overall, 2007) to a 3 year entry level contract. Financial terms are as of right now unknown, but the rookie maximum is $875,000 for the 2007 draft class, and it can be assumed he will earn that much. Whether he has any extra bonus clauses on his contract could raise his cap hit significantly. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. Montreal signs C Yanick Léhoux to a 1 year, 2 way contract worth $500,000.
UFA RW Duncan Milroy signed with Ingolstadt of the DEL (Germany), UFA D Mathieu Biron signed with Frankfurt (DEL), RFA D Marvin Degon signed with Wolfsburg (DEL), and RFA D André Benoit transferred to Södertälje SK (SEL). That only leaves 5 players who were under contract to the Canadiens last season still without a contract for next season somewhere. Those are Smolinski, Brisebois, Coté, Archer, and Bonneau. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Montreal signs D Yannick Weber (73rd overall, 2007) to a 3 year, entry level contract.
Montreal also signed UFA D Craig Anderson to a 1 year, 2 way contract.
UFA LW Jimmy Bonneau signed a 2 way contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
I've re-arranged the depth chart to by position, not by salary. The Habs have 44 players under contract, meaning they have room to add up to 6 more players. With training camp a month away, the heavy lifting has been done. Barring a training camp surprise like Latendresse two years ago, the Habs are not expected to sign any more of their draft picks to NHL contracts, meaning any additions would be from the depleted unrestricted free agent pool, or via a trade.
Of the 44 players under contract, the Habs have 16 wingers, 10 centres, 11 defencemen, 5 goaltenders and 2 swingmen (can play both forward and defence) signed to NHL contracts. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."
