What's the Cards situation with Rolen and Ekstein?
Would the Mets ever leave Wright at 3rd, and move Reyes to 2nd? He used to play there, I think. Or is Reyes a way better shortstop than Rodriguez and Rod a better 3rd baseman than Wright?

Wright is a below average defensive 3B. Reyes was never comfortable at 2B when Kaz was around, and Delgado isn't really healthy enough anymore to play 1B consistently. I could see him going back to the AL.

Well, the Rox who seemingly couldn't do anything wrong during this stellar run of theirs did everything wrong in this World Series. Poor preparation and nerves were their undoing, they looked terrible at the plate, in the field, and were average at best on the mound.
Someone PLEASE ship Fuentes out of town.
Hopefully the Holliday negotiations are quick and relatively painless, I'm praying Scott Boras will be too busy putting A-Rod in an even worse spot than before to screw things up w/Holliday.
Of the pending free agents I don't see Matsui returning, someone will be bound to pay way too much, except for the Mets of course, but the Rox had damned well BETTER keep Torrealba. He's not stellar in any one phase of the game but he handled a patchwork pitching staff and bullpen better than anyone could have imagined, swung the bat amazingly well during the Rox stretch run, and well, I'm sick and tired of the Rockies trying to sell the next "catcher of the future" on us, we need stability at that position. After the failures of Jayhawk Owens, Ben Petrick, J.D. Closser, and now Chris Ianetta, the Rockies need to quit fucking up in that area.
Anyway, good season, too bad the Rockies couldn't have stolen ONE game but I can't really get on their case too much because this run was so unbelievable and so much fun. They just ran into a vastly superior team--even if they had played their best baseball I think they would have lost this series. With guys like Pedroia and Ellsbury rounding into form I really don't see the Sox letting up anytime soon. |

WTF? I seem to remember a certain Historian of the Post putting Wright as a 3rd baseman he'd rather have over A-Rod. 
Don't know who A-Rod thinks is going to pay more money than the Yankees, who would have been partially subsidised by the Rangers. Smart move buddy. Your agent is the MLB version of Mark Gandler. Lucky for you Russia doesn't have many baseball teams.

I would still take Wright, I was talking in terms of defense and what options certain teams might have, not what I would do personally.

A mistake IMO. Torre really has nothing left to prove, he'll be taking a team very much in transition and ownership not nearly as willing to pay big dollars for free agents, not to mention that ownership and management are still very new. I suppose since he's 67 years old he's thinking he's only got a couple years or so left before he hangs 'em up for good. It'll be cool to have him in the NL West at the very least, I hope it turns out to be a very competitive division, competitive in that the teams are all good, not all mediocre to bad. |

All the best for Joe, it's a shame the Rockies treated him so shoddily in the wake of the player's strike because he was the Rox' PA rep at the time. He also got a raw deal from that assmunch Loria in Florida. I hope he sticks it to everyone, though he's inheriting a roster that's rife with very expensive problems. |

With A-Rod gone, who are the problems? Abrieusuck, I'll give you that one. Oh crap, Giambi. Ugh. Okay, so you aren't too far off. 
But apparently they are thinking like you and moving Chamberlain to a starting job.
My one big problem with Joe Girardi taking over is that he's a big Mike Mussina fan. I hate that prick.

And give them even more DH's?
If the Yanks have a young pitching staff next year, they need a catcher who can actually catch. Didn't they get Jose Molina this past season? Can he actually catch, just not hit?

As for Posada, I'd really hate to lose him right now. It's not just a matter of being able to catch. It's running the pitching staff.  |

Sorry, when I said "catch" I was summarizing the defense and handling the pitching staff part of playing the position.

Depending on who you ask, the Giants might be in the running for ARod and/or Fukudome.
It's not my money, so I don't care how much they spend, but if they plan on signing anyone it has to be long-term since the Giants won't be good for the next year or two.
This is seriously their starting lineup if they do nothing:
C Bengie Molina
1B Dan Ortmeier
2B Ray Durham
3B Rich Aurillia
SS Kevin Frandsen
LF Dave Roberts
CF Randy Winn
RF Nate Schierholtz
Yikes. Add A-Rod at 3B and Fukudome in RF, while moving Nate to LF. Still sucks but a year from now they could be decent.
The lunatic fringe of Giants fans are talking about trading for Clint Barmes and Dallas McPherson. That's when you know time are tough.
