This team is definitely no. 1 on the contraction chop block. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

Naw, the league will refuse to sell the team to a hockey loving billionaire at a far higher price than what they will get from a bunch of other guys, and then hand the Rangers, Flyers or the Leafs over to the old Panthers ownership after they've gutted the team(if that's even possible with the Panthers). _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

This related story may have been missed:
| Bob Mackenzie wrote: |
Sources says Nieuwendyk, who held the title of Special Consultant to the General Manager, tendered his resignation earlier this week.
While Nieuwendyk is the last type of person who would throw bombs on his way out the door, sources say he was "extremely disillusioned" with the direction the franchise was taking under owner Alan Cohen and GM-head coach Martin, who this week was directed by Cohen to give up the coaching portfolio to concentrate exclusively on managing the team.
It's not clear whether Nieuwendyk resigned after finding out Martin would be back as GM or if it was in the works before that. But those who know Nieuwendyk are quick to point out he did not covet the GM's job and was not interested in assuming that responsibility. But neither, apparently, was he interested in being part of an organization that he didn't feel was moving in the right direction.

| Sad that there's more job security found in this front office than in Vancouver's... |

Speaking of job security:

Um...why?
I guess he hasn't exactly made any wrong moves (we'll see about Weiss) in the wake of the disastrous Luongo trade, but why now? |

Probably a signal to the incoming coach that the guy that hires him has some security. This should attract a better slate of coaches with so many vacancies out there for bigger name candidates to get choosy.
Pat Burns lives in Florida, so who knows.
And he stole Mattias from Detroit, so he has that going for him. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."
