| Rumors popping up about Floppa making a decision soon. He's healthy and playing for the Swedish team in a 4 country tournament in early November. When will he come back to the NHL? |

| I'm betting he will, just don't know exactly where yet. My best guess would be Ottawa who look to be making one last run before they have some tough decisions to make in the offseason. |

Man, just retire already so the rumour world can just shut up. This is more annoying than Roger Clemens.
At least he isn't holding press conferences to say that he hasn't decided yet... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

I found that far less annoying than hearing "xxx is interested in Forsberg" repeated every second day. Congratufuckinglations. So is probably 29 other teams. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Wouldn't he have to play in a minimum amount of games before he would be elligible for the playoffs? If the number is 10, any team that wants him for the playoffs better sign him at least 30 games, so Mr. breakable has the time to get those 10 in... _________________ In a country so proud of its democracy, whyare we trying so hard to convince our children that they are little monarchs? |

He skipped an entire season before and then played in the playoffs. And guys have started their careers in the playoffs before(Drew Miller did in the Finals last year). Unless you mean that he has to be under contract. That I don't know. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Ottawa Sun reporting that Sens GM Brian Murray is going to Finland to check him out up close at the tourney and that the Red Wings are sending their assistant GM. Sounds like he wants to sign somewhere, or else his agent is just a serious cocktease.

Yes, I meant they have to be under contract for a certain amount of games. Guess I screwed that one up.
Trent Hunter started his NHL career in the playoffs, so I knew that. Dumb on my part. Where is my beloved :zidane:? _________________ In a country so proud of its democracy, whyare we trying so hard to convince our children that they are little monarchs? |

I don't know about Detroit signing him. If we are still clicking on all cylinders after the first of the year, Holland may not want to throw a wrench into the works. RW and Bosc should weigh in on this. _________________ No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. |

Detroit doesn't need him... If they have cap room, they'd be better off getting depth players. With guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, et al, how much ice time would Forberg have anyway? _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Forsberg may be a better option this year than last if he's healthy. We have way more cap room this year, and it wouldn't cost us the farm to get him. We're looking good right now, but how our kids will perform on the second line over the long haul/how our scoring depth will look if Babcock breaks up the big line when Franzen returns would be a better indication of if we have a need for it. And a bidding war is out of the question.
If we move Chelios and Hasek's bonuses to next year, we've got about 5 million in cap space. With the bonuses, we sit at roughly 3 in cap space. So depending on if/when he comes back, we still might be able to fit him and the bonuses all under the cap. It'd be a nice luxury to have him for the stretch and the playoffs, but I'm not holding my breath. Detroit might make a more serious pitch to get him should one or both of Selanne and Niedermayer return. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

If Forsberg were a poster on OTP, I'd give him the title "Resident OTP Ironman." _________________

NOT surprising. Geeze O Pete. Why is he so injury prone? Or is it that he has never been given the time to really heal between injuries? Are the injuries cumulative? _________________ No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. |

It's probably all mental. He's dove so much that he's actually convinced that he's been hit every time he does it. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Not to mention, that ice is pretty hard. Flinging youself down on it 20-30 times a game would add up after a while... _________________ (Working in a Call Centre) + (Being a Leafs Fan) = (One HUGE glutton for punishment)

Joking about diving aside, here is the problem which has been plaguing Forsberg for a while, and has worsened post-lockout(I think).
http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/mckenzie/?id=222239
| Quote: |
By now, we all know Peter Forsberg has problems with his feet, but what precisely are these problems?
Well, Forsberg has some congenital issues. He wasn't born with a club foot, but does have some characteristics associated with that, specifically the ligaments in his feet are too lax and loose.
The surgical procedures he has had on his feet were to 'tighten' up the ligaments. The basic problem, in spite of these surgeries, is that when Forsberg's foot is in the skate boot, his foot tends to roll over within the boot. It is as if he is wearing skates a couple of sizes too big for him, even though they are fitted correctly.
No matter how tight his skates are around the foot, his heel slips and the foot shifts and rolls over.
Now stability is the elusive quality. He simply can't push off well enough to skate if the stability isn't there.
Forsberg had been encouraged the problem was behind him, but it started to crop up again when he was skating on the weekend. The condition worsened today, so much so that he realized he could not continue.
Forsberg's remarks indicate he is extremely despondent about this latest setback, but he isn't at the point quite yet where he'll stop trying to find a solution. |
