They're not in alphabetical order. They're not in reverse alphabetical order by the city name of each player's team. They're not in order from youngest to oldest. They're not in any real order at all, EXCEPT that all of the award front-runners are named first. Coincidence? No. I think somebody didn't think it through when they were pasting these up on the site and left them in the order of votes, thus making the first person the actual winner.

The "leaked" order is just the order they were presented in.

No problem with Lidstrom for the Norris, but Julien should have gotten the Jack Adams. He did far more with far less than the 3 nominees did...

The turnaround was pretty sudden and dramatic. When the Caps clinched the division, in their forum I wondered aloud whether anything could stop him from getting the award, because it pretty much always goes to the most improved team. And when that happens mid-season, it's even more transparent than usual.

If he was robbed, it was only petty theft.

Ha! Smile

But really I felt 1st half of the season he was the only reason the Sharks were winning games. Then the team picked it up and he stayed steady. Both him and Brodeur were by far their teams' MVPs, but the Sharks did better so Vezina should go to Nabokov. Plus wasn't Brodeur pretty mediocre for the first part of last season? Nabokov was a rock all year. And for stats Nabokov had more wins, better GAA, more shutouts. I think he was overlooked due to West Coast syndrome and I think it was a big rip-off.

I usually don't pay any attention to the NHL awards but I am bummed about this one.

The GM's vote for the Vezina, so WCS isn't an excuse, really. Each conference is equally represented. It's a pretty conservative group, and I think a lot of the GM's think you clearly have to have a better year than Marty to beat him. It was pretty close, so Marty won.

The hockey writers actually named Nabokov the First Team All-Star goalie over Brodeur, so that shows there was a split. Apparently the Vezina was the closest vote again this year, and I don't think any goalie had a particularly great year... more just "above average or good" years.

I was hoping Nabokov would get the Vezina - he had to work harder at the beginning of the year.
