Fletch is getting it done the only way he can. Tucker is damaged goods and just can't compete anymore.
What's interesting is that the Leafs are buying out 3 guys all at once.

Check that, it's only 2 players. Wellwood is a RFA. I guess this means they aren't planning on qualifying him and are letting teams decide if they want him at his current price.

Bullshit.
Tucker was injured last season.
You guys watch; he will be one of the most valuable players in the league next season.
We saw this coming with the trade for Jamal Mayers, but buying out Tucker was a bad move.

the Leafs are not competing during Tuckers deal anyway so move all the old guard and hope it makes the other couple of no traders just say screw it trade me.
Another one that took advantage of JFJ like McCabe and I don't care one bit about the feeling or history...can't move them for anything? dump them.
Man we better win the lottery next year though.

Can't disagree w/ you .... just sucks to see Tucker out of Toronto.
ANd just as you said; another casualty of the JFJ era.
This isn't going to be a very attractive team for UFA's .... I would not be surprised to see Roberts inked to an inexpensive deal to serve primarily as a tutor / 3rd liner / 2nd PP unit however.
Leafs got good & quick during the Pat Quinn era in '97 (or was that '98?) ANyhow .. they had there window of opportunity during his stint as a coach; those were some damn quality teams ... but not quality enough.
Time to start from scratch just as Cliff is doing.
But Tucker?
